Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

How about Dion is not a leader?
Or the corollary, that Harper is a leader. Those particular posts always make me laugh, which is the sole reason for your existence Kate in case you didn’t know, in the context of public opinion polls, the right-wing media and the millions Harper has spent attacking Dion.
Please put Harper on a diet and get him some anger management therapy, I want him to live a long and bitter life, so I can constantly remind him of how he lost to Stephane “the carrot” Dion.
Happy New Year to all my angry, bitter and confused (about the polls) conservative friends.
Yes, Dion the leader. The same one who said he would do his best to get to Afghanistan. Of course, that was four months ago. I guess Dion’s best isn’t all that good.

Can you imagine having as a hero, the Liberal Bag Man during the AdScam fiasco. The man in charge of Intergovernmental Affairs, the guy with the purse strings.
It always amazes me when I see people that hold trash in high regard.
The best I can say about him is that he has a not bad dog. Not good, but not bad. Too bad it’s named after a Mo Strong scam, Kyoto!!!
Oh yes. The Dion who said upon winning the Librano leadership, that he was anxious to have an election ASAP. What a joke. The only thing more pathetic than Dion are the small, angry, hateful, people that would vote for him.
I guess carbon offsets aren’t so hot after all:

All democrats who couldn’t keep their peckers in their pants, but you don’t hear about it because why?
Interesting article from a veteran libertarian, Burton Blumert, about a certain effect that the Ron Paul campaign has had on him: “Thanks A Lot Ron Paul – You’ve Made My Home a Political Campaign Headquarters.”
One point worth pondering: the MSM hostility towards Ron Paul seems to be confined to “the brass.” The local newsies seem to like the fellow and his supporters.
(You can read a hint into the above paragraph if you please.)
Tread carefully, ‘let there be light’. You may inadvertantly talk yourself into believing in things like original sin, and who knows where that might end up? Total depravity? Keep this up and you run the risk of turning into a Calvinist.
Gee, you’d think that with a name like let there be light, s/he’d know we’re not in Kansas anymore but in CANADA.
Sure, lots of politicians have pecadillos–aren’t they human like the rest of us?–though our Canadian ones seem to go less for the sex kind than the ADSCAM kind: you know? Librano$’ stealing from the hard-working taxpayers to feather the nests of their friends and family and to replenish the warchest of the next election…seeing as they have very little grass roots support across the country.
let there be light needs to shake off his/her shades and blinkers to really let the light shine in. So far s/he’s seeing through a glass darkly.
But your point is well taken. If any of those people run for election here in Canada, I won’t vote for them.
Vitruvius,
What’s nice about this thing is that the guitar player starts off with H/Ts to Jimmy Page, Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, and even Eddie Van Halen which is nice because “Smoke on the Water” has one of the truly classic rock riffs. (The original guitar player was Ritchie Blackmore, I think.)
The Deep Purple guitar player did a H/T to George Harrison as well which is nice.
Come on guys, let there be light is just Robert BscBa, Bollocks, etc. Please ignore him.
Not sure “let there be light” who you’re trying to enlighten. Like to think most of us didn’t fall off a turnip wagon.
Perhaps you believe you have a higher calling and have power to “lighten our darkness” but may “we beseech thee” to take care.
Wow, I guess it is the attack of the moron troll day. First up we have a quantum idiot mumbling on about what a great leader bombardion is(we all know what a great job he did on the environment file under cretin).
And who cares what sexual acts are carried out by any American politician? When you have some dirt on any member of the CPC(and looking at pictures of one’s girlfriend does not count)let us know about it.

It could be the most fun we’ve ever had in a bi-election in the riding of Desnethe-Missinippi-Churchill River.
No one could concoct a better political side show than what’s shaping up there.
How can Dion be so dense to take such stupid advice from a tired, old and desperate politico like Ralphie Goodale?

Rumor has it Ralph G has been spotted at the Brick and Leons purchasing all the TV’s he can lay his hands on. Of course he got them on the “no money down, no payments for 1 year” plan.
Go figure.

Let there be light; All the things that you accused the Republicans of doing are required to be a Democrat. If you advocate no morals,it follows that there is no morality.End of story,or is morality just for others.

British standard of living to rise above American.
What a load of crap that is!! Their incomes might rise above American’s incomes, but that doesn’t change the fact that one pound in Britain buys less than one dollar does in the US even though you need two dollars to to buy one pound.
LOL, Syncro.
Can just picture Ralph, slicked down hair, doing a no-money-down deal deal with the Brick or Leons.
AQL stresses about PMSH physical appearance and anger?
It would be petty at this point to mention the scrawny appearance, and milque toast wimpy sitting-on-his-hands Lib so-called leader of the opposition.
So this is me being petty…

@kingstonlad:
There’s an easy answer. There are certain liberals that are so bigoted they don’t even know it. The fellow who plagued this board is someone who believes that each and every conservative is aching to subject a kind of private conduct to a thicket of laws and regulations.
I can’t explain it except through psychologizing (“displacement,” it’s called.) Some may peg it as “fear of payback,” of one sort or another.
No doubt abot it – Dion is definitely
AQuAnTumLibErAL’S REHO!
English translation = HERO!
I’ve just sent the following to Melanie Phillips, a fine UK journalist who’s right up our alley. I’d be interested in additions and feedback.
“I appreciated your latest column. In it, you wrote, ‘What is so urgently needed is political leadership based on vision, integrity and courage. Charm and charisma, however attractive, are no substitute, while soggy consensus is a quicksand which may drag us all under.’
“Canada has a fine Prime Minister with ‘vision, integrity and courage’ in the estimable Stephen Harper, a Conservative. He’s kept a steady course, despite both a minority government and the ‘best’ efforts of the despicable Liberal Party—a Mafia-like organization, run by thugs—and its allies in the MSM, who slander and libel Mr. Harper and his party at every turn.
“One of the worst offenders is the state paid for CBC: the Liberals, who consider themselves ‘Canada’s Natural Ruling Party’—they’re in deep shock that they lost the last election and no longer have the taxpayers’ money in their personal treasury to buy votes and influence—have chosen CBC journalists as our TWO latest Governors General! (Both are physically very attractive. One is an arrogant Chinese Canadian, who, I believe, thought SHE was the Queen! Our latest is a black Haitian Canadian, married to a Quebecois separatist! Her slouching, disrespectful body language, while reading the latest throne speech beside the PM was a disgrace.) The Liberals also reward their journalist buddies with Senate seats—sinecures: little responsibility, other than to hold up Conservative legislation, on a part-time basis, for big bucks until the age of 75. ‘Nice job if you can get it! Now that they can’t, the MSM, which act like the official opposition, are savaging PMSH and his party: among other things, manufacturing ludicrous “scandals”, which wouldn’t have the shelf life of a tomato if the MSM weren’t willing to fuel the fire.
“What does our PM do? He bides his time and gets on with governing. He and his party are remarkably dignified and quiet: they do NOT get involved in all the in-your-face screaming, preening and mud slinging—the Liberals’ usual modus operandi. This is quite a feat, considering the provocation they endure on an hourly basis—just about every CBC newscast! This minority Conservative Government has now been in power for 23 MONTHS, one of the longest, if not THE longest minority government, I believe, in Canadian history. Despite a totally juvenile, left-wing opposition of the criminal Liberals (on record, this party STOLE taxpayer $mega millions), the loony Green Party (with no seats but all kinds of media support), the separatist Bloc Quebecois, and just about all Canada’s MSM, PMSH has not toed the left-wing party line on Kyoto, China or Israel—at international forums, he’s challenged China’s human rights records and supported Israel’s right to exist and defend itself—and a host of other issues, such as being hard on crime (these bills died on the order paper, being held up by the Liberal dominated, UNELECTED Senate), lowering taxes, supporting the military (which the Liberals gutted) and our mission in Afghanistan, money directly to parents for child care, etc.
“Stephen Harper is his own man and has the courage of his considerable convictions. He’s sharp as a tack and, in the political chess game, is about six plays ahead of the opposition, which make them hate him even more. When the Parliamentary Press Gallery tried to run the show—“Play by our rules or else”—he called their bluff and left them out in the cold. He did an end run around them and communicated directly to Canadians, on local shows and via the Internet. The media scream that he’s not accessible. Not quite right: just way less accessible through their seriously out of focus lens! (From his office, I receive regular emails of his speeches and his daily engagements and announcements.) He has a very attractive family: a photogenic, blond, outgoing (unlike her introvert husband), independent spirited wife, Laureen, who grew up on an Alberta ranch and had her own company before her marriage. She rides a motorcycle and looks after stray kittens. She’s a delight. (A little pop up’s just informed me I have a message from the PMO about an announcement he’s made: probably about the two soldiers who were killed: may they rest in peace.) They have a son, Ben, and daughter, Rachel, both photogenic and active: Ben plays serious hockey, about which the PM is extremely knowledgeable: he’s writing a BOOK about it! One would think the MSM would lap these things up. Not on your life! Bloody hypocrites: dangerous too.
“Canadians have to be among the greatest sheeple on the planet. Far too many have fallen for the avalanche of lies about PMSH and the Conservatives. Among these brainwashed citizens are too many of the flood of questionable immigrants the Liberals allowed into Canada and then, under the guise of multiculturalism—I altogether share your views on this scam—bought their votes with numerous, very generous grants. IF the Conservatives do get a majority, Canada will have a chance to really reform itself and reclaim some of its former backbone and integrity. Considering the handicaps, I believe that PMSH is doing a remarkable job. Some C(c)onservatives are displeased with his compromises and think he’s selling out. However, until he gets a majority, he has no choice but to compromise. In my opinion, politically, he’s the best thing that’s happened to Canada in a very long time.”

Jeffrey Goldberg’s review of Matthias Küntzel’s new book “Jihad and Jew-Hatred: Islamism, Nazism and the Roots of 9/11” is worth reading in its entirety, and the book he reviews seems essential as well…

So what is this guy saying – the Americans should bar all men from running for public office, including himself.
As an atheist I have to say that a lot of religious types seem to have this madonna/whore complex and think sex is evil.
“The problems do not only concern the plane’s engines but also the fuselage and the wings, the executive said”.
The above quote is that of an EADS (Airbus) executive concerning the delays in their M400 heavy lift competitor to the Lockheed Martin Hercules J Model which the Harper government has wisely selected for purchase. Very interesting. I guess the critics were right – we should have waited for the M400. The tail assembly appears to be OK.
lookout – thanks for the post; great comments.
Again, I want to bring up the remarkable process taking place in the US – a process not undertaken by any other country. For a full year, the American people openly debate the issues and agenda that concern them, via the presidential primaries. This debate is carried out in the media, in blogs, in town halls, on university campuses, in backyards and frontyards. It’s a full, open debate. At the end of that time, they have clarified their concerns about themselves and their nation and are ready to vote for a candidate who will deal with these issues.
It’s quite remarkable – a process of pure open democracy. In Canada, we don’t dare debate our issues. We are slowly starting to talk about our concerns about multiculturalism, about bilingualism, about the kangaroo courts of the HRC, about the patronage system that is the Senate, about the dangers of Kyotoism and so on. But these discussions are primarily carried out in blogs. We don’t mention them openly; no politician dares to speak about these issues.
Instead, we are fed a steady diet of Correct MindSpeak, from the govt broadcasting station, the CBC, and its offshoots in the Press (Toronto Star, G&M etc). What a difference.
That’s why blogs are important in Canada. They deal with issues that the Ruling Mind forbids us to think or talk about.
A great blog by Copts (probably the most informed infidels on the planet) on Islam (sonsofapesandpigs.org)
Here’s their take on the new UN resolution, bloc voted into existence by Islamic countries:
“We support, accept, join and vote with the Organization of Islamic Countries (OIC) for the implementation of the United Nations’ resolution A/C.3/62/L.35”
“Combating defamation of religions “and commend all members of the OIC for their unprecedented courage and their historical acknowledgment that their Allah, used to be also known by “the almighty, the all powerful, the merciful, the compassionate, the deceiver and other stolen identity ” has been now placed under the UN extinct species protection act.
Make no mistake about it; what we’re witnessing here is the cry of the wounded beast, bewildered and humiliated, not knowing where to hide. Contrary to the great majority of the anti-Islam brigades across the world that felt distressed by this (OIC) resolution, we see it as a great victory.
It’s the first time in history that a supposed religion, let alone the “fastest growing religion” as they falsely claim (we will prove that too from their own sources), is pleading with the world for protection. For Islam to survive, Islamic authorities and governments muzzled their people for 1400 years with terror and their monopoly on the information their people were allowed to access. With the internet, that monopoly is blown away forever and the truth is filling the air with millions deserting Islam. So now they figured they can keep using the sword to muzzle the world, they know Islam can’t survive without it. Their sword can still slaughter and will, but will never be able to hide the sun.
Dar el Islam is cracking and we know it, and they know it. The more you help spread the word, the faster you’ll see it crumble and be swept to the garbage of history sooner than anyone can imagine.
We can very confidently repeat what Emile Zola said “truth is on the march and nothing can stop it”
Read it all.

NO, NO, NO!
http://www.cbc.ca/canada/story/2008/01/07/climate-report.html
The PM had better stick to his no carbon tax guns!
I acted on a suggestion by a commenter on a previous thread about the moonbats going crazy in the G&M comments about Bill O’Reilly crashing the Democrats party and I read many of the comments.
Stepping back for a moment, if you’ll recall, a few weeks ago, commenter “Gank” (or something like that) said (paraphrased): “forget the blogs, participate in the G&M comments…that’s where the real action is”.
After having read the comments, I can say quite clearly…DON’T BOTHER! What a load of partisan BS! Calm, rational commenters from “the other side” of the prevailing opinion are nastily slammed…no facts, just emotion and unjustified “claims”.
What I found most funny was the oft-repeated claims of how biased Fox News is…particularly when I read Macleans magazine this morning and noticed an article stating that in an independent review by the Centre for Media and Public Affairs at George Mason University, they concluded that Fox News was “perfectly balanced”. (refer to “3w.cmpa.com/releases.html”)
HAHAHAHA! Partisan morons! Don’t waste your time with the G&M.
RE: Schreiber-Mulroney! To all my Conservative friends! We need to be vigilant in obtaining an expense sheet from CBC’s “Fifth Estate!” Don’t give up!!!!
The Question. . .
How did expensive tech camera equipped cell phones become such a cheap commodity so quickly.
Hypothesis; They were first sold under rich government contract for covert use. R&D fully paid for, they become publicly available when the covert quality wore off.

Thought this was funny. Cut-and-paste from CTV.ca:
“Men who have never had children have a lower risk of prostate cancer compared with fathers, concludes a large stud, but the reasons for that are unclear.”
I wonder who the stud is?
