Welcome Home, Chickens

@visegrad24;

Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem says Trump is considering to broaden his ban on Harvard enrolling international students to other universities as well in an escalating row with the academic world about antisemitism and pro-CCP currents.

Trump today revoked Harvard’s ability to enroll international students, effective immediately.

This action, led by Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, terminated Harvard’s Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP) certification, which allows universities to issue F-1 and J-1 visas for foreign students.

As a result, Harvard can no longer admit new international students, and its nearly 6,800 current international students—comprising about 27% of its student body—must transfer to other institutions or risk losing their legal status in the U.S.

The decision stems from an ongoing dispute between the Trump administration and Harvard, primarily over allegations that the university fosters antisemitism, violence, and anti-Americanism on campus, as well as claims of coordination with the Chinese Communist Party.

Update: HHS’s Civil Rights Office (@HHSOCR) finds that @Columbia violated Title VI “by acting with deliberate indifference towards student-on-student harassment of Jewish students”.

Trudeau’s letters were all about climate change. Carney, not so much

Carney’s mandate letter to ministers is dramatically different than Trudeau’s, with climate change an afterthought. Trudeau mentioned climate 27 times in his letter to Steven Guilbeault, 20 times to Jonathan Wilkinson. Carney? Once, and almost in passing.

Another major nuclear announcement, this time in Tennessee, which will have impact on SaskPower’s nuclear ambitions.

The Food and Drug Administration is telling Pfizer and Moderna to expand the warning labels on their COVID-19 vaccines about the risk of a possible heart injury side effect linked to the mRNA shots, primarily in teen boys and young men, citing findings from a study published last year and new agency data.

Orders to expand the warnings were posted Wednesday by the FDA, in letters dated April 17 to Pfizer and BioNTech about their Comirnaty vaccine and Moderna about its Spikevax vaccine.

More: Sen. Ron Johnson just released subpoenaed records exposing a damning timeline of what officials knew and when.

Crack And Badger

Come to think of it, I’m not entirely sure what loving one’s body might mean, beyond the obvious off-colour jokes. But apparently, it’s something that one is supposed to proclaim as an accomplishment, a credential of progressivism. I have, however, noted that it tends to be announced by people whose declared triumph in this matter is not altogether convincing, and whose basis for doing so is generally much slimmer than they are.

It must be quite strange to go through life feeling a need to boast in print of some pointed behaviour – specifically, “showing my sons what a real woman’s body… looks like” – as if this feat of not wearing knickers were somehow radical, empowering, and a basis for applause. And to then have to justify this lifestyle affectation in ways that are somewhat contradictory and not particularly convincing. As if no-one would notice. It seems a lot of effort.

On the cost of pervert inclusivity; on Trump-induced hair-loss; and on not wearing knickers as the height of progressive parenting.

The Tolerant Left

NYT;

Two young Israeli Embassy aides were shot and killed outside an event at the Capital Jewish Museum in downtown Washington on Wednesday night by a man who shouted pro-Palestinian slogans after he was detained, according to law enforcement officials.

The close-range shooting occurred shortly after 9 p.m. on a street outside an event hosted by the American Jewish Committee at the Capital Jewish Museum, behind the F.B.I.’s Washington field office. The Capitol and the headquarters of the Justice Department and the F.B.I are nearby.

Pamela A. Smith, the chief of the Metropolitan Police Department, told reporters at a news conference that the man exclaimed, “Free, free Palestine,” after he was in custody. He also informed police of the location of a gun.

The usual suspect: I am an Open Source Intelligence analyst and will share some findings for Elias A Rodriguez, 31 (Feb 1994) from Chicago, who is the suspect of the murders of the Israeli in DC.

The Future of War

Real Reporter discusses how the Russians are catching up in drone technology, which possibly explains why Putin seems disinterested in peace talks.

“Today’s guest is Serge a Russian engineer and entrepreneur developing military drones for the Russian army. At the start of the war Russia was embarrassingly behind in drone warfare but as the battlefield evolved private startups like Serge stepped in to help Moscow catch up. Now Russia is closing the gap with Ukraine not just in the number of drones but in their quality and tactical innovation. What makes this conversation stand out is Serge’s perspective. He’s not part of the military which gives him a rare level of freedom to speak openly. His insights into modern and future drone warfare are sharp and at times surprisingly candid.”

Once again truckers are the problem.

Blacklock’s- Border Program Fails Again

A costly program to computerize records of cross-border freight trucks saw the Canada Border Services Agency flooded with so much information it was “impossible for them to analyze all of the data,” says an internal report. It was the second time in six years that auditors questioned the eManifest program.

A total 99 percent of truckers complied, said the report Evaluation of eManifest. The resulting flood of information overwhelmed Customs officers.
