An ICE agent in Delaware was threatened with suspension if he didn’t release an illegal alien with 10 prior traffic violations. In El Paso, two ICE agents doing a routine inmate screening found an illegal alien who’d been arrested by cops for domestic assault; the illegal alien attempted to escape, assaulting one of the agents in the process, and was then released — and the ICE officers were questioned by supervisors regarding possible disciplinary action because the illegal alien was a DREAMer.

Ms. Leslie did not tell The Hill Times “What is this massive marketing machine that the PMO is driving? What do they seek? What message do they want people to see—this sort of macho guy who’s not going to pay attention to the rules?” or “They loved that. There’s no chance in 100 years that wasn’t entirely planned. Stephen Harper doesn’t do unplanned.” Ms. Leslie also did not tell The Hill Times that riding an ATV is “very controversial” because it is not safe for children.
She also did not say that “People gripe about the price of gas being too high, but they’re prepared to buy a vehicle and fill it with gas for letting their kids ride around in ways that are unsafe,” nor did she say “Definitely he cares about opening up oil and gas and mining, and there is this kind of macho thing, he likes to be seen on an ATV or a snowmobile, taking off, driving off in places he’s not supposed to go.”
All of those quotes should be attributed to Ms. May.

There’s a certain symmetry in the action of transforming useless waste from a failed industry into worthless art.

When Solyndra filed for bankruptcy last year, thousands of employees were let go, dozens of vendors were left high and dry, hundreds of millions of dollars were lost — and millions of glass tubes were abandoned in a San Jose warehouse.
Now some of those tubes, a signature design element of the company’s cylindrical solar panels, have found a second life as modern art.

If by “symmetry”, you mean “screwing over the taxpayer and small business in equal measure”.

Well, at least they’re admitting it: Wind energy company requests permission to kill endangered species

Beech Ridge Energy has applied to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service for an incidental take permit addressing impacts to endangered bats at the company/s wind energy project in Greenbrier and Nicholas counties, West Virginia. The 25-year permit for the Beech Ridge Energy project would cover take of Virginia big-eared and Indiana bats during operation of 67 existing turbines and construction of an additional 33 turbines.

So long as it’s not ducks.

In tonight’s amusement en route to the Tips, from the 1945 short film called “Randle and All That”, the fictitious, couldn’t-possibly-try-harder acrobatic duo of Donovan & Byl perform one of the flat-out funniest pieces of physical comedy you’ll ever see. I have no idea who the smaller fellow on the left is, but the performer on the right (at the start) is almost certainly Frank Randle, the Lancashire-born music hall comedian of the film’s title, who first performed on stage 29 years earlier as an acrobat.
Swallow whatever you’re drinking so you don’t spray your screen, and watch Donovan & Byl’s Tumbling Tomfoolery.

The David Suzuki Foundation and Watershed Watch Salmon Society have filed a petition in BC Supreme Court asking, among other things, that an interim injunction be issued prohibiting any construction or work from beginning on the [hydro-electric project], including obtaining any approvals or permits.
The groups say the Holmes River is home to chinook salmon and at least five populations of an endangered variety of moss.

Leftist “Study” Concludes that Conservative Talk Radio May Propagate Violence

A recent “study” by the UCLA Chicano Studies Research Center entitled “Social Networks for Hate Speech: Commercial Talk Radio and New Media” (PDF) should be very familiar to any Canadian who closely followed the kangaroo court persecutions of Mark Steyn and Ezra Levant.
This latest attempt to clamp down on the free speech of conservative Americans is nothing new, as this 1995 column of Charles Krauthammer illustrates. Anyone asserting that this latest “study” uses scientific methods to “prove” its assertions was clearly catatonic throughout the entire Climategate scandal.
The Leftist agenda at work here is anything but opaque. It’s also painfully tiresome:

  1. Determine what conclusions you wish to come up with.
  2. Conduct a “study” that’s dressed up with endless verbiage and statistical charts.
  3. Issue press releases to the Leftist MSM and blogosphere about there now being “scientific proof” that what conservatives say is hateful and might even lead to violence.
  4. Sit back and laugh while your political enemies are demonized.

When it comes to actual violence, the recent contrast in the coverage of the Aurora, Colorado shootings versus the minimal coverage of the Washington, DC shooting speaks volumes more than this “study” ever will. Waiting for a UCLA study to investigate why Leftist individuals lash out in violence is akin to this.
