And why would he?

During testimony before Congress on Thursday, FBI Director James Comey stated that the FBI’s interview with presumptive Democratic presidential nominee former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton was not under oath or recorded, but it still would be a crime to lie to the FBI.
Comey stated that he did not personally interview Clinton, and did not talk to all of the “five or six” who did interview Clinton.

The reaction to Bexit by some commentators, including several in Canada, has been near apocalyptic. Shock, anger and bitterness were accompanied by accusations of racism, atavistic parochialism and isolationism. The vote was greeted with withering contempt for the country’s supposedly crypto-fascist leadership and Little Englanders who were either ignorant or bigoted, or likely both.
That reaction is not respectful of a decision freely rendered by a sovereign people. To the contrary, some empathy should be extended to a country that has a deep democratic tradition and a long history of usually getting things right. Further, we need to understand the underlying reasons when the popular will goes against prevailing opinion of the political, financial and intellectual establishment.

Pennsylvania Slashes Rooftop Solar Subsidies –

The state commission found twice that net metering solar subsidies are not in the public interest, as they raise the price of electricity and transfer money from poor people without solar panels to rich people with them. The PUC is made up of both Republican and Democratic appointees and voted unanimously both times.

It’s almost as though there’s a pattern emerging.

The return of the Russian icebreakers.

The new ship is a 6,000 ton (deadweight), 85 meter (180 foot) long vessel that can handle ice up to a meter thick. Meanwhile Russia is building three Artika class nuclear powered icebreakers. These are much larger (173 meters long and 33,500 tons) vessels that can handle ice three meters thick. With a crew of 75, Artika class ships can stay at sea for up to six months at a time. Currently Russia has the largest icebreaker fleet (41 ships), followed by Finland (seven), Sweden and Canada (six each) and the United States (five).

A Calgary indigenous woman who knocked out a Caucasian woman’s tooth while yelling “I hate white people,” didn’t commit a racially motivated crime, a judge says.
Provincial court Judge Harry Van Harten, in a written decision, said Tamara Crowchief’s motivation for striking Lydia White was not related to racial bias.

Because she didn’t belong to a “group”.

Functional MRI (fMRI) is 25 years old, yet surprisingly its most common statistical methods have not been validated using real data. Here, we used resting-state fMRI data from 499 healthy controls to conduct 3 million task group analyses. Using this null data with different experimental designs, we estimate the incidence of significant results. In theory, we should find 5% false positives (for a significance threshold of 5%), but instead we found that the most common software packages for fMRI analysis (SPM, FSL, AFNI) can result in false-positive rates of up to 70%. These results question the validity of some 40,000 fMRI studies and may have a large impact on the interpretation of neuroimaging results.
