Joe Biden’s former chief of staff comes (mostly) clean;

The committee pressed Klain on everything from Biden’s use of sleep aids, which some allege contributed to his debate fiasco against Donald Trump, to internal White House preparations as the president’s faculties slipped. He revealed that by the time Biden was prepping for the catastrophic June 2024 debate, the president was exhausted, “out of it,” and much more fixated on NATO than on the basic duties of American leadership. The man running for reelection seemed more like a figurehead than a commander-in-chief.

Klain’s testimony echoed the bombshell revelations recently chronicled in the media and insider accounts. He recalled an atmosphere where decisions were being rubber-stamped by a handful of unelected aides while Biden faded further into the background. Klain described a president whose memory for names and events was alarmingly poor and declining rapidly. Still, the inner circle propped him up and kept the American people in the dark. In his words and actions, Klain demonstrated that the “internal concerns” within the Democratic Party were not mere rumors but were rooted in firsthand observation and secret backroom discussions.

The former chief of staff also detailed how top Democrats, including Hillary Clinton and Jake Sullivan, expressed serious doubts about Biden’s fitness well before the 2024 election disaster. Sullivan supposedly told Klain that Biden was clearly less effective in 2024 than he had been just two years earlier, an astonishing admission from the very heart of the Democratic establishment. These misgivings didn’t just come out of nowhere; they bubbled up as it became impossible to ignore Biden’s “tired and ill” demeanor ahead of his head-to-head with Trump.

Perhaps even more striking, Klain didn’t indulge the media’s desperate attempts to shift blame to ageism or distraction. He reportedly told investigators that he saw no reason to question Trump’s own mental acuity, a subtle but unmistakable rebuke of the left’s favorite whataboutism over the past half-decade.

Why Haven’t Top Democrats Learned From the Harris Campaign’s Failures?

Why haven’t they learned? Arrogance? Stupidity?

Political upstart assemblyman Zohran Mamdani stunned the political world last month with an upset defeat of former governor Andrew Cuomo in New York City’s Democratic mayoral primary. What was even more stunning, however, was that Cuomo made every major mistake in his mayoral campaign that Kamala Harris did in her presidential campaign. He clearly did not learn a single lesson from the presidential race of only eight months ago, and as a result he lost, 56 percent to 44 percent, to Mamdani.

I wrote prior to Kamala Harris’ formal anointment as the Democratic presidential candidate that the then-vice president was the weakest candidate Democrats could have chosen. I believed, up until now, that if any of the other major contenders (except for Joe Biden of course) had been nominated instead, they would not have run the failed campaign Harris did, and we as a nation would have been spared a second Trump presidency. However, after watching Andrew Cuomo lose, it occurred to me that I may have been very wrong to assume other major Democrats would not have made the significant unforced errors that cost Harris the election.

Why do I say that? Because there were a number of incredibly obvious lessons to learn from the Harris campaign’s failures, and yet a proven Democratic political figure like Cuomo clearly did not learn them.

$100 Million in Donations for California Fire Victims Getting Dumped into Lefty Nonprofits:

In the wake of the California wildfires that displaced thousands of Angelinos from their homes, celebrities did what celebrities do: put on a concert to raise money for the victims.

It was a huge production and raised $100 million that people assumed would go to the victims of the fires or help them get back on their feet. Everybody felt good about themselves, and artists got some nice publicity for “donating” an evening of their lives.

A good time was had by all, except, of course, the supposed beneficiaries of the concert’s fundraising. It turns out that they were never the intended beneficiaries. A bunch of nonprofits–many with no relation to the fire or its victims–are raking in the dough.

Fee-fi-fo-fum

I smell the blood of Kenyan-Hawaiian.

The memo accuses the Biden-Harris administration of directly and indirectly funding “radical leftist” organizations behind the 2023 anti-government protests in Israel. “The Committee’s oversight has revealed that the Biden-Harris Administration provided grant funds to groups that contributed directly and indirectly to the judicial reform protests that sought to undermine the Israeli government,”

But wait, there’s more: “According to the memo, the previous U.S. administration also funded NGOs linked to Hamas, the Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ), and other terrorist groups.”

When The FBI Does It, That Means That It’s Not Illegal

It’s a thread.

… top national security officials including FBI Dir James Comey, CIA Dir John Brennan and DNI James Clapper gathered at the Obama White House to discuss Russia. Obama directed the IC to create a new intelligence assessment that detailed Russian election meddling, even though it would contradict multiple intelligence assessments released over the previous several months.

Update: Matt Taibbi weighs in (link corrected).

The material is bolstered throughout by explanations of a whistleblower from then-Director of National Intelligence James Clapper’s office. Just this handful of documents holds explosive implications, implicating a much bigger pool of White House officials than previously understood, including Obama himself, in what appears to be a top-down effort to create a false narrative about Russia meddling to help Donald Trump. If there’s an analog in American history, I can’t think of it.
