  1. Wow – that’s numerical and management illiteracy at their best! The NDP is counting on, even dependent on, the press not being able to understand the simplest costing issues – and on the NDP voter not catching them out independently. Wonder if that means their electoral success requires educational failure?

    If you really want to compare the two options (Moe vs NDP) you need to discount the cash flows involved at an appropriate rate -which you guess at by looking at recent inflation rates in related goods and services – and then compare the net present value of both streams. Do it, and coal will, I think, come in well below gas/wind/solar without consideration of either probable future tax and inflationary increases or of the cost of failures (land use, brown-outs, etc) associated with green solutions.
