The Iran War is causing an energy crisis: Doomberg on Decouple and Soar Financially
When the federal division of the NDP were in a position to do something about the carbon tax (and thusly lower consumer’s costs) by voting against the federal #Libranos in the dying days of the Trudeau regime, they choose to not do so, and to instead carry on supporting the federal #Libranos so as to secure the federal NDP leader’s federal MP’s pension.
I don’t believe the NDP, for any reason, nor the federal government #Libranos, and it is hanging by a thread for the current Conservative Party. Perhaps the provincial PQ does what it says? I’m not about to advocate for them, as worthy as they are for promising a separation referendum within the next 2.5 years.
It’s worth keeping in mind that whatever energy crisis is facing the world, notable in Australia but the expected fallout may cascade elsewhere too, it is GOVERNMENT choices which have led to this energy crisis and there is NO ONE else to blame.
Although I’m not a huge fan of coal fired plants (familiarity breed contempt, I guess), the existing federal climate change rules and regulations have forced Saskpower’s hand. The price of building new combined cycle natgas plants has increased dramatically, and that’s before the new federal ccs rules are added to the price. Maintaining 1500 MWs of baseload coal power until 2050 at a cost of 2 to 2.5 billion isn’t that bad of a deal. Combining that with the 900 MWs of baseload natgas that have recently been built or under construction also helps reliability. Older natgas plants (like QEPS), private industry cogens and hydro should make the grid reliable until nuclear plants are built.
Baseload electricity transition takes decades not years. The federal government’s rushed timeline to clean energy is just an excuse for a money grab through carbon “pollution” penalties and displaying its intense dislike of the conservative voting provinces of Alberta and Saskatchewan. Ignoring the Liberal federal government until they are gone from government or Saskatchewan is gone from Canada is the best course of action.
L – Given the MSM induced Trump Derangement Syndrome in eastern Canada. They will keep voting Liberal. That is until the angry and hungry 3rd worlders invade the homes of the TDS sufferers, steal their food and anything not nailed down. Then leave after a month or so. The Liberal voters will be found tied up in a closet, somewhere.
Saskatchewan and Alberta going independent isn’t a fantasy option. It’s a lifeboat. The Canadian ship of state has been scuttled by two captains in a row.
A nation is a group of people with a shared culture and values. The Liberals turned the National Dream that tied Canada together into a nightmare of chaos and tyranny. Carney will have made freedom of speech, including online, into a crime, before “Dominion Day”. Without free speech, Carney can stay in power, until his job as the Liquidation Manager/auctioneer is completed.
Yes, the provinces of Alberta and Saskatchewan are very different compared to the other 8 provinces. Different culture, different economy, different politically. Alberta and Saskatchewan don’t fit in with the rest of Canada very well. We’ve outgrown the rest of Canada and they’re just holding us back from reaching our full potential. Irreconcilable differences.
But, but, but … isn’t it time to decouple from conflict-hydrocarbons and embrace a future free from Muslim control of the world’s energy supply? Isn’t that what the wise and sage Jimmy Carter WARNED 50 years ago? To lower our expectations and thermostats … throw on dead grandpa’s cardigan and snuggle for warmth. To cover our landscape in solar panels and windmills and enjoy the “cheap, green, renewable, energy?
Isn’t it time to decouple? From evil oil? That’s what the left are crying as they bemoan another $1.00/gal. And $20.00/tank … which will keep them from buying a Big Mac meal … every time they fill up the family truckster.
aaaaaaaaaaaaaand maybe, juuuuuuuuuuuuuust maybe, the in deep pee party could also consider costs of NOT DOING ANYTHING? saaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyy the costs in lost production?
I know that you have sage comments to contribute. I mean that.
But, hey, could you try to be more coherent about it?
You’re like a Tom Wolfe novel.
Peace
ah. mr ‘Right Stuff’. l read the book and watch the movie. poor ratings but parts l really liked.
Chuck Yeager had a bit part, played the bartender. betcha it was interesting to the actors to see THE MAN in person.
ihmo American aviation produced some of the most gutsy tough aviators in history. even the likes of Howard Hughes. test pilots who, a cpl times they went climbed in the cockpit had to dismiss that brief thought they may not survive, that distracting negative notion. or even ‘hunches’ but they STILL did it in the interests of progress and ultimately defense of the nation.
then there were the ones like Neil who could wrestle with the craft and figure a way out of the dilemma in less than a second.

See? There you go with a Bonfire of Inanities like a Man in Full.
REE Haw.
Kidding,
The low IQ communists of the NDP are the last people on earth to talk about costs. Whenever they bring up how much something costs, they are against it. When they’re for something, costs never come up.
And in the case of energy, coal and oil and gas are waaaAAAAAAAaaaaayyyyy cheaper, way more reliable, more efficient, and require no subsidies. Of course, if you have to factor in all of the additional costs imposed on coal and oil and gas by far-left governments under the pretense of fighting the non-existent “climate change crisis”, using the imbecilic anti-scientific lie of anthropogenic global warming, while also including the unbelievable subsidies given to “green” sources… Coal and oil and gas are still cheaper, though no longer by as much.
As for the Iran war energy crisis – I’m leaning towards being pretty concerned about the effects. The concern grows as the war continues. North America is insulated from the most dire consequences because we’re mostly self reliant in fuel, fertilizer and food production. We likely won’t see shortages but there will be price sticker shock as those products cost more.
Then there’s the petroleum related products that don’t get as much attention like helium, plastics, sulfuric acid, medicines, etc. I know Saskatchewan and Alberta both have helium and sulfuric acid but imports built with plastic might get expensive and there will probably be supply shortages.
I read that Canada, USA, Norway and Russia will see the fewest negative effects of the Iran war and get most of the benefits. Other places in the world will have considerably more problems (food and fuel rationing or even more severe shortages). Consumers in all countries will feel the effects of higher prices and higher overall inflation in the economy.
The Iran war isn’t causing an energy crisis. The move to “renewables” is. Those countries that have moved in that direction will be sorry when there are power shortages because of no wind or solar. What the Iran war is revealing is just how important energy is and isn’t something that governments should fiddle with.

Good analysis, I agree.
Joey B wins the interweb today.
Well done
Keep pumping out AI data farms though
Let’s be completely honest here. No, the Iran war is not causing an energy crisis. The energy crisis only exists in those countries who followed stupid energy policies.
Bad policy choices have consequences. Unfortunately, those consequences could be very severe. I get the feeling that people don’t understand how serious this could get. Energy shortages will result in fertilizer and then food shortages. No diesel means trucking and tractors can not operate. Food not grown, food not transported. The likelihood of a humanitarian crisis in oil and gas stressed countries gets higher the longer the petroleum shut-ins continue.
very, VERY correct. a sudden food shortage, be it from widespread casues. a terrifying scenario.
warehouses emptied. transportation crippled even when food exists in warehouses just not available.
everyone’s waiting for the ‘next growing season’ to recover except oopsie, shortages of fertilizer, a badly timed one-of-a-kind insect infestation or such on top of that crappy weather.
etc etc. murphies law. it happened with the energy ‘crisis’, air conditioners not functioning during power blackouts in rule britnnai and deutchland, all HUMAN caused.
we *are* assuredly in The End Times now. l no longer speculate.
Why does China get to burn all the coal?
… because they are an … emerging nation … which gets to burn the fuel of the Western Industrial Revolution. It’s only … fair … right.
“Trump can’t TACO his way out of this one”
… kinda soured the entire discussion for me. Adopting the terms of the enemy. Makes you the enemy. Sorry, the Green Chicken man has decoupled himself from any sense of proportionality.
Trump is destroying the Empire. We are part of the Evil Empire.
Canada is done. We deserve all of the Despotism. We voted for it and will continue our abusive relationship with our government. Battered Citizen Syndrome.
Plenty of Worse to come.
Durka Durka
Why should we care, we have the MOU.
And MAID right? Don’t forget we have MAID if it gets too bad. A Liberal will hold your hand. No worries.
Spain got that one right at least. the 15 y.o. rape victim is being killed by the state. google it. /sarc off

Heh.
“It will take a famine”.
Well?
The famine is coming and it is entirely self inflicted.
Both Carney and Trump are working for Western Canada’s Independence.
Diagolon, a nation made up of the sane citizens.
After the utter BS our Liberals spewed out, attempting to justify their State Thuggery toward the Truckers, the meme Diagolon needs to follow and mock them, until their deaths..Natural causes of course.
Panicked, malicious liars..this is our “Good Government”
