Back in November 2025, the Washington State Department of Ecology and Washington State Department of Commerce published some statistics about how much carbon emissions have been reduced because of the programs they’re spending millions of taxpayer dollars on.
One little problem: Their numbers were off by 9,500 per cent.
Due to a data entry error, Commerce reported that 7.5 million metric tons of greenhouse gas emissions would be reduced as a result of eight rebate projects funded by the CCA that support home electrification and appliance rebates for low-income and vulnerable communities. The corrected data now estimates that 78,000 tons of emissions will be reduced over the lifetime of those projects.
Jeez, if we can just reduce the CO2 from 0.04% to 0.02%, life will be absolutely wonderful!
To add clarity to CRB’s statement, an atmospheric CO2 concentration of 0.04% is 400 ppm, (while 0.02% is 200 ppm). Optimal plant growth occurs at ~1000 to ~1200 ppm (because that’s what it was when woody plants evolved), but they begin to die at 150 ppm. And because cold water absorbs CO2, during the last ice age the oceans removed a substantial amount of CO2 from the atmosphere and CO2 levels dropped to ~185 ppm. We are literally at the lowest level of atmospheric CO2 in geologic history. We are at near death levels. No shit.
It all comes down to global warming.

Due to a data entry error Ha. The computer went wrong! Deliberate fraud, more like. Computers don’t make errors, humans do. I heard a radio report yesterday of an on-line scam caused by AI. No, it wasn’t AI, it was fraud, a very human thing.
