María Corina Machado Interview from Late 2025

A few months ago, Nobel Peace Prize Winner María Corina Machado engaged in this interview. Every Canadian and American should pay close attention to her describe Venezuela’s downfall under Democratic Socialism. Free speech was removed. Merit was replaced with nepotism. Is it any wonder why NDP’ers, Lieberals, and Democrats are angry as hell about what happened a few days ago? For them, Venezuela of the past quarter century isn’t a warning, it’s an instruction manual.

    1. Well, Coyne’s idea of “action” doesn’t mean doing anything except saying “unacceptable”. Maybe in capitals.

    2. Some questions,
‘WHERE IS CANADA? The people of Venezuela need us, and our government is still at the stage of asking the Maduro government to show its work.’

The idiot that majority of Canada voted for a few times probably does not know where Venezuela is.
With population of that kind of quality, what the hell can you expect?

    1. I did an Ask Grok: ‘Show me tweets or columns from Coyne on Maduro in the last two years.’
I tried a few other Canadian MSM names and got similar results.

  1. Dear Great Unwashed,
Democratic Socialism had its hiccups in Venezuela, not because that form of government is flawed, but because it wasn’t allowed to succeed. The ignorant, selfish, and contrarians that opposed Democratic Socialism offered up opposition to a pure application. And, unless everyone is committed to such a wonderful all-encompassing application of Democratic Socialism, it will not be allowed to reach its potential. So, once again it is not Nicholas Maduro who failed you. It is those who still harbor an immature, selfish and ignorant need for liberty, freedom and meritocracy.

    We must keep trying.
    Sincerely,
The Democrats — who all of a sudden discovered the words “sovereignty” and “borders”

  2. Over at Unacceptable Fringe, Derek has discovered “Planet D”, the duo that Unknown Jane has been introducing us to.
Now I believe that duo to be a boon to Western Separation, any western resident who chances to listen to them will automatically vote to go.

They are the perfect characterization of the Elbows Up Crowd.
So appalling I am not sure..might they be parody?

Anyway, they rant about Bad Orange Man arresting Venezuela’s Dictator, then they call every seeker of independence some names..
Derek at Fringe is aggravated by these idiots.
I see them as perfect chicken dancers.
    The Eastern Urban Expert.
    If they are real.

    1. I watched them and wondered if they were for real for a couple of minutes, then I read the comments. These are true believers.

  3. ‘Democratic socialism’ is a newspeak.
As soon as you start defining democracy, you’re taking away any real meaning of it. After all it is simply rule of the people.
To be sure, democracy has a fatal flaw, it is self-destructive since the greater and greater number of participants vote themselves free stuff, in fact.
Once the critical mass is achieved, the remaining time of democracy is short. It is replaced by lesser or most likely greater totalitarian dicktatorship {sic}.
If you noticed the history of variety of do-gooders at any time in the past, it degenerate into bloody ending. A lot as in a lot of people die, must be how nature takes care of the overpopulation.
    It just works that way.
Watching US from afar, Trump is just an interlude, a coma, a pause if you will, before resumption of progress (heh, a very apt considering who is pushing) on the road to hell.

    1. Actually, leftists put “Democratic” in front because it is “soothing”. They use the word like Franks Red Hot Sauce and put that s_it on everything. It is merely camouflage.

  4. My problem with this interview may be a result of her inability to speak complete fluent English. Because one of the first questions she was asked was about HOW Chavez/Maduro came to power? How did your FREE nation of bountiful resources become ripe territory for Socialist/communist Revolution? Her answer is short, incomplete, and sorely lacking. It made me believe that she is a capitalist elitist who had no idea what the people at the bottom of the heap were feeling. That she was blindly unaware of their suffering and only cared about losing the status of her own family. She sounds like the Cuban elitists who were so utterly out of touch with their lower classes that they never saw the Castro Revolution coming in 1959.

No, I’m not a Socialist/communist sympathizer… I am a pragmatist. And if you summarily ignore the the conditions of the least among us … you are asking for Revolution. You are sparking your own revolution. I would think more of her … if she actually knew and understood how and why the communists took over her country.

And yeah, we are experiencing the same thing here in the US … and the West as a whole. The income disparity keeps getting wider and wider (no, I don’t believe in capping salaries of high earners). Young people cannot afford a home or to even have a baby (that isn’t government subsidized). This isn’t personal as my own kids are doing fine (except that home ownership thing here in CA) … but we will have our own Revolution here in the West if we continue to ignore the plight of the least amongst us. Either this woman is completely tone deaf, just doesn’t care … or doesn’t have the English skills to express it.

  5. “Canada still hasn’t recognized the likely winner of Venezuela’s election — Venezuelans want to know why”

I don’t get it. Is this guy trying to make us believe Venezuelans give a crap about what Canada has to say?
