I’m sure the new PM will be able to fix all these problems, right? Perhaps a few more taxpayer bailouts with cute titles like the Ontario Together Trade Fund will do the trick.
The Canadian Federation of Independent Business released a report Wednesday based on a survey of 187 small-to-medium-sized businesses in the automotive sector, from parts suppliers to repair shops, and found that tariffs are already having an impact.
Their revenue has declined by 13 per cent, on average, and half of them reported that they have paused or cancelled investments due to uncertainty caused by the Canada-U.S. trade war, which could lead to billions in lost revenue or missed investments, the report said.

I fail to see how the US putting a trade tariff on material coming into the US costs a Canadian company that is using material being imported from the US. The only way I can see the cost increase is from CC (crooked Carney) slipping an import tax on said products.
There fore the cost increase is from the terriorist organization known as the government of Canada.
There are some things that cross the border repeatedly, likely what will happen is the automakers will make sure it doesn’t cross the border as much.
Btw, automotive sector will be in a lot of trouble starting 2nd half 2026. Carney is (among other bad things) an eco-nut so the mandatory 20% EV quota for 2026 will remain. Well, this target will not be met by Cdn dealerships, and $20K/unit fines will be a big pbm. Dealerships will transfer these fees to regular gas cars + bigger service fees. So expect starting 2nd half 2026 big-big price increases in auto sector.
I expect a jump in prices for some gasoline / diesel powered vehicles. Not 2022 Hyundai / Kia but more for vehicles you’d expect to see in a remake of or series continuation of Mad Max
Try to find a new truck for less than $40k, less than 5 years ago you could get base models in the mid $30s
Does anyone have the address for The Canadian Federation of Independent Business?
I want to send them a glad-you’re-feeling-better card now that their voice seems to be coming back. Ten years is a long time.
For some reason they don’t seem to want to give out their address on their website.
Their corporate address was previously listed at 4141 Yonge Street, unit 401, M2P 2A6
We’re toast. Our gov’t will not undertake any meaningful reform so we’re going to be left in the dust and stuck trading red tape with our EU allies. If we want into the US market then we’re going to have to learn how to compete and not just huff & puff if we don’t our own way.
Government’s turn everything to shit.
That’s what they do.
Obviously Not Advocating (Trademark), but the only way The Shit is getting fixed is with a ruthless and epic cull.
