    1. Reminds me of Marilyn Monroe’s comeback to the father of her fiance in “Gentlemen Prefer Blondes”. My goodness, don’t you know that a pretty girl is like a man with money! Which is why rich men invariably have “babes” for their significant others.

    1. Many people are wondering why mortgage rates are going up and it was explained in a Ron Butler video recently posted. Yes, the Bank of Canada did not raise the prime rate BUT, the Canadian Bond Markets are going “cuckoo bananas” and that is why rates are going up – other interest rates such as on credit cards will also be increasing.
I am NOT an economist, but I read a lot and can connect the dots. The Bond market is going crazy, because all Canadian governments are spending too much of other people’s money so other people want higher interest rates because the governments (and people in general) are becoming poor credit risks. Our youngest brother who had a business degree, agreed with Maggie Thatcher – “it is all fun and games until other people stop lending you money”.

  1. Haven’t seen a single example of this. However, the massive faux nationalism ads from the Lieberals infesting every nook, cranny & ad opportunity of television space for the last 6-8 weeks has been nauseating. Where’s that technicolor vomiting emoticon when you need it?

Researchers find jump in U.S. influence campaigns targeting Alberta referendum as vote looms

    1. The globe and mail did a story on Republican strategists working with Alberta separatists to provide tactical and strategic support. https://www.theglobeandmail.com/canada/article-alberta-separatism-canada-united-states-republican/

It’s also rumoured that the separatists offered Alberta’s resources, specifically oil and water, in exchange for help separating from Canada. https://macleans.ca/politics/americans-are-meddling-in-the-alberta-referendum/

There are also comments from the US executive branch that reach the level of political interference. https://www.afp.com/en/us-influence-ai-and-mistrust-cloud-alberta-independence-vote

So, for the most part the US has been behind the scenes in terms of influencing Albertan’s minds, providing advice on strategy, tactics, and also resources on American soil. But I don’t think this is news to any regulars on this site.
