  1. The Snowbirds are retiring and switching to prop planes like 100 private aerobatic groups in the US. Canada is truly becoming Turd World, no jets. Are they changing the name to Slowbirds. Just buy a dozen fricking low stress jet trainers and they would be good for another 60 years. Prop planes is a national embarrassment. Maybe 18 because they run into each other a lot.

  2. Who could have anticipated needing new planes when the old ones were worn out and finished?
Supposedly the Snowbirds were supposed to show the world how professional and skilled our military is.
    Mission accomplished!

  3. My brother was in the RCAF. He was friends with Colonel Ralph Annis who was the lead solo pilot with the RCAF Golden Hawks flying F86 Sabres. Now THAT was an aerobatic team…..then we go from that to the Snowbirds (who did their best with what they had) and now I suspect we will be seeing refurbished Blackburn Shark biplanes in the air in 10 years from now. How far our military has fallen.

  4. I don’t know who within the federal gov’t made this decision, it’s just one number amongst many with which I haven’t agreed with in decades of federal gov’t.
The Swiss airplanes which will replace the Snowbirds are excellent airplanes, but they’ll never be jets.
Did Canada used to build airplanes? how about jets? Has anyone asked the #Libranos why Canadians can’t build great things?

        1. Make snow mobiles?
Did you know that during Canaduh’s part in the war-on-terror Afghanistan, hand grenades manufactured in Quebec had a 1/4 dud rate. One-in-four. I was watching combat videos where 2 soldiers were put a risk having to throw 2 grenades at a time to get a 50% change of detonation to clear a room.

  5. It’s not the equipment that’s being retired by the Carney government, it’s our culture that’s being retired.
