Contributor’s Note

Earlier today, I saw 4 comments caught up in the spam filter. 3 of them used the F-word. 1 of them did not. I freed the last one.

Please refrain from formally swearing on SDA and you’ll find far more of your comments published.

    1. Yeah, f*ck is one of the most versatile words in the English language.

      On a par with shit.

    2. 1. I don’t configure the Spam filter.
      2. I’m essentially a volunteer on this site.
      3. I don’t feel it’s my duty to stop my work to release “captured” spam messages multiple times per day.

      Sorry if that offends you.

You chose to release one of 4, so you consciously chose to sensor free speech. If swearing offends you don’t read in here. As to your “time”, it wouldn’t have taken much more time to ‘free’ all 4. Behavioral psychologist suggest swearing is a good way to relieve stress.

    3. gym… what assurances can you provide that only people of the age of majority (aka “adults”) have access to this site?

And you are dumb enough to think the new crop doesn’t swear and can’t handle reading a few coarse words, does yer muther know she raised a weeny??????

        1. And only you are dumb enough to not only put words in my mouth, but totally avoided answering a direct question.
Not only that, I will admit, shamefully, that when I’m alone, and I, for example, stubbed my big toe, you can hear me utter a few epitaphs clear across the street, so I’m no stranger to f-bombs.
But as usual, my point flew right over your pointy-little head.

      2. “what assurances can you provide that only people of the age of majority”

About 40 years ago my dear sweet 3 year old daughter missed while trying to kick a soccer ball and said “eff you see kay.” My mother asked who taught her that. I said my wife. What else could I say?

        1. Yeah, that’s how far we regressed as a society. I hear kids using that kind of language pretty much every day. It’s not that I’m denying reality. I’m simply lamenting how far downhill we have gone.
My question was in response to gym’s comment about how he assumes that only adults use this website, which was the point I was subtly trying to make, but I guess my point was a little too subtle for poor li’le ol’ gym, who sometimes displays the intellect and maturity of a child.
(tbh… I’m having a lot of fun playing with gym’s head. His responses, although predictable, are quite amusing sometimes, but I will admit that gym will get under my skin sometimes when he accuses me of being a pedophile, or as he did recently, a “joo-hater,” so yes, I don’t have any respect for him, or any of his slanted opinions.)

      3. who the Phuck cares, they’re words and words cannot hurt you unless you or the overly sensitive faggotty children you refer to.

  1. l can attest variations get snagged as well. too much caps lock? ixnay.
and the infamous reinforxing rod letter combo. and alternate name of the predatory marine mammal aka killer whale, ixnay. thats really weird.

      1. Hurrah. Orchiectomy is back on the comment menu. Looking at you Andrew Scheer, and UnMe,

      2. “The orc ban is no longer in effect.”

Yeah, that’s what I thought when he mentioned “the f-word”…I honestly thought he was talking about “force”.

  2. It was while ago, but I think Kate had mentioned placing “that word” and some related terms in the comment section plays havoc with filters at other’s sites as well.

So it may reduce the coverage of this site, affecting those who are reading it at work on company owned computers or devices, in particular on company time, and possibly at home as well for people who choose to ramp up their child filter to the max.

I have a relative, who uses the colloquial word for poop, multiple times in a normal 20 minutes coffee conversation. He uses this word as much as I use commas, as his vocabulary is not all that expansive, and though he’s been quite successful at work and in life, his conversations would be much more interesting if he’d learn a few more words.
If F-bombs were unleashed, this site would read like the plumber’s lunch room at large work sites, and no one would ever know how “extensive, loquacious, thorough, comprehensive and full”, your vocabulary is as well.

and that would be just so sad.

      1. I think I’m real calm now… and would prefer this site is read & seen by many more Canadians. If that means not posting words like a normal plumber/gasfitter uses, than so be it.
Even though I have said “F-that” here, and had a few comments disappear as well.

        1. What gym doesn’t get is that people who uses profanity as a habit are displaying their lack of intelligence to present a cohesive argument, or simply a lack of maturity, because they can’t properly express themselves, or their opinions coherently.
gym has amply demonstrated that point over and over again on this site.

          1. If evolution was real, I could see that the first words ever spoken would be about procreation and excrement. Some have never grown past that moment in history, I know several personally.

  3. Sadly, those with differing opinions often degrade themselves to swearing and name calling. These same ones would key your car, or break your house windows, just because you don’t follow the state spoken policy.
We as a society are losing decorum, along with everything else.
