Aiding And Abetting?

When a bank agrees to finance your mortgage, it’s a loan, not aid. Investors don’t loan you their capital because they think you are deserving of some “help”. While it’s legitimate to question whether or not governments should finance a pipeline, to call this “aid” is quite the stretch.

“Oil and gas companies – emboldened by their influence over President Trump – are exploiting the current economic uncertainty to call on governments to double down on fossil fuels by expanding pipelines and other projects and finding new export markets,” Julia Levin, associate director of national climate at Environmental Defence, stated in a news release on Thursday.

“This push ignores the fact that fossil fuels come at a high price — not just at the pump, but through rising costs of groceries, worsening health outcomes, damage to property, and huge government handouts,” she added.

“It also ignores the rapid energy transition towards renewable energy that is happening globally.”

  1. There is no rapid transition to “renewables” happening anywhere. Electric cars are about 5 percent of sales about two decades of trying. I’m pretty sure they’re going to stall at that level. No one wants them, and we’re heading into a depression so no one is going to be buying anything.

    1. BYD seems to have figured it out. The market share is going to increase at a curving-up rate because BYD electric cars are actually good.

    More like Mental Offence.
Worst lying liars around who just get to say stuff without anyone calling their bullshit.
How the fck does oil and gas make groceries more expensive compared to redundant and unreliable windy-sunny contraptions that, like government employees, barely work?

    1. The Cult of GANG GREEN.
Fear and propaganda. Goebbels would be proud of them. Every single prediction in the last 50 + years has been WRONG.
They keep doubling down on their insanity.
Time to cut the funding from NGO’s and all other sources of money so they can fade away. Drill baby drill. Oil is the single largest traded commodity on the planet. Nothing else even comes close.

    2. “Facts and figures” are pulled out of their a$$e$. When they do use legitimate figures, they spin them to sound as terrible as possible.

Why is China not a problem for the eco-cult? China is already a communist dictatorship.

  3. If renewable energy were affordable then gov’ts wouldn’t have to tax hydrocarbons to subsidize it.

Also missed by the parasite class is the fact that our standard of living is directly tied to the cost of energy. As energy costs have risen over the decades we’ve seen a corresponding rise in poverty, and yes, they are connected.

    1. The inflation adjusted price of gasoline in 1971 using 2025 dollars was $3.61/gallon.
      In 2025 it’s $3.21/gallon.
(Now if you’re talking electrical energy, that is probably something else altogether.)
Cheap O&G energy has brought luxuries and comfort to hundreds of millions, if not billions of people.
This is what the parasites hate so much – proles having stuff.

      1. I suspect that much of this has to do with the huge push we experienced back in the 70s and 80s to eliminate oil for home heating.

  4. “…but through rising costs of groceries”

So, just to be clear…lower costs for fossil fuels increase the costs of distributors (who pay less for transporting products). Then, increase the cost for groceries because retailers are paying less to distributors. All the while, costs for all forms of petroleum based plastic (that wraps just about every grocery product) is going down, but causes the cost of the product to increase.

I guess I missed that chapter in Economics class. My bad.

  5. “It also ignores the rapid energy transition towards renewable energy that is happening globally.”

    a more accurate version:

“It also assesses the failing energy transition towards renewable energy that is not happening globally.”

    1. Well,it looks like there is a good chance one of Thunberg’s greatest admirers may become PM of Canader.

  6. Worsening health outcomes. Because electricity powers nothing.
Haven’t you had an MRI where the attending clinician peddled a bicycle to power the device?

  7. Nice sleight of hand there going from rational market actors (banks) to a political non-market actor (government). Yes it’s aid if it’s from the government DUH. It’s my money getting blown and I think one KXL loan disaster is one too many.

  8. “the rapid energy transition towards renewable energy that is happening globally”
I’m going to stop you right there…..
