Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

"I got so much traffic after your post my web host asked me to buy a larger traffic allowance." - Dr.Ross McKitrick
Holy hell, woman. When you send someone traffic, you send someone TRAFFIC.My hosting provider thought I was being DDoSed. - Sean McCormick
"The New York Times link to me yesterday [...] generated one-fifth of the traffic I normally get from a link from Small Dead Animals." - Kathy Shaidle
"You may be a nasty right winger, but you're not nasty all the time!" - Warren Kinsella
"Go back to collecting your welfare livelihood." - Michael E. Zilkowsky
40%+ of Americans still support Harris and Biden. Some stupidity can’t be fixed. And how many Canadians still support the liberals?
Ha! And I just read today that a “majority of Californians” still believe in California’s “high speed” train … which someday will fly down the tracks at 60mph from Manteca to Modesto! Woo hoo! So fast. So edgy. So kewl.
That’s ok. It’ll make Americans less squeamish about bombing the shit out of you.
I’d be planning my move out of Ottawa … before you’re leaving like Tevya pushing a wooden cart
This is the nakedly-transparent result – indeed, this poll that the “right-wing” National Post is, like a dupe, reporting on is likely a part of it – of the latest Liberal Party Psych-Op based on the longstanding Canadian shibboleth (likely false based on its being so) that the Liberals are by far the best party to “protect” our chaste Canadian maidenhead from the pernicious economic and sociocultural influence of Perfidious Amerikkka (ignore this idea’s unstated minor premise* that we need protecting), and so by whipping the populace up into some hyper-defensive, flag-waving patriotic (read: anti-American) frenzy, the All Good Canadians will reflexively Do The Right Thing and vote Liberal. The continued very existence of the country depends on it!!! LOL
Completely transparent but shocking (not shocking – the “forced Canadiana” that I’ve been forced to endure of the last couple of weeks has been sickening) that some people are apparently buying it.
My God, people – many whom I thought (as with Covid masks, lockdowns et al) should know better – are such f*cking sheep!
*when attacking a fallacious argument, always check said argument’s unstated minor premise aka What’s Not Being Said.
Take your meds already
ok, bot
Yeah, doesn’t address any points you raise; it’s too busy slobbering over its Barbie dolls.
Goodness, are those his meds? I thought those were barsnacks! I’ve been crunching ’em down like popcorn. Oh well, probably no prob… [dissolves in psychedelic incoherence].
Exactly right, Eric. All “opinion polls” are mere propaganda intended to generate a specific response. The notion that the federal Liberals are capable of protecting anything is ludicrous. The last sensible Liberal Prime Minister the country had was Lester Pearson, and he’s been dead for more than half a century.
Pearson was “sensible” only because the definition of sensible is pushed so far to the extreme outer limit. He was a Soviet mole who gave us the Lieberal campaign logo for a flying rag and installed Pierre Trudeau into power.
Corollary: obviously, this Liberal Psych-op is also simultaneously designed to throw Poilievre on to his back foot (he would be wise – which is, I would assume, contra the advice he is getting from a whole bunch of spineless nervous nellie “conservative” pollsters – NOT to not take the obvious bait) given that it’s another longstanding Canadian shibboleth that the “conservatives” (remember the 1988 Free Trade Debates?) are all-too-willing to “kowtow to” and to “sell us out” – whatever that actually means – to the Americans.
If I followed the Canadian MSM, I would no doubt be currently hearing all sorts of howlers about Poilievre and his “American-style” this or that, or – even worse! – his “Trump’-style” or “MAGA-adjacent” whatnot and his “scary” (ALWAYS that word!) “hidden agendas”, etc., etc. This stock Canadian libtard B.S. is so pat that one could literally program an A.I. algorithm to spew it out 24/7 (maybe this is what I occurring).
I don’t know what I find more annoying: that a significant plurality of Canadians appear to be swallowing this tissue of horsesh*t, or that there are, in some nameless Ottawa backroom, a bunch “Liberal Party strategists” – fart-catching flaks virtually unemployable in virtually any other capacity – all patting themselves on the back and manually bringing themselves to orgasms about their supposed political ruthlessness and about “what great operators they all are”, having foisted all this patent hornswoggle upon the general public.
As I suggested in this SDA comments section just yesterday, PP and the Conservatives would do well to keep their eye on the ball, stick to the facts, keep hammering the opposition on their odious policies and forget all about these polls.
Kanadians are quick to swallow the propaganda. Especially when it’s presented as a “hot lunch”.
Eric, “forced Canadiana” is an excellent description and it’s suddenly everywhere. As an example, this week’s grocery flyers all have a big, red maple leaf beside all items made in Canada. Businesses in our small city have put up red and white signs stating they sell Canadian goods. Other than groceries and pet food, there isn’t much left here that is made in Canada.
“it’s suddenly everywhere”
It’s almost as if there is some sort of organized campaign or something!
Like the sudden profusion – everywhere – of neat and nearly-identical Palestinan flags and posters post Oct 7, this is waaaaaay to organized to be spontaneous or grassroots. It insults the intelligence to suggest otherwise.
Corollary II: I wonder if goverments are giving out money, CERB-style to various businssses and entities to run with this whole “forced Canadiana” thing. Hmmmmmm
Has anyone looked into this or has any information?
bullshit !!!
Every rural Saskatchewanian I know is in support of becoming the 51st state. And most of those would also help an invading American military force liberate Canada from the tyrannical Trudeau and Moe regimes.
You yokels are going to be the first ones they dump in the graves
You sound like a typical Libtard Rooster Lollipop. That’s not slobber on your face.
SlobberBot, did your Barbie dolls tell you that.
no we won’t. But dipshits like CumFace will likely end up being comfort for the less discerning invaders because there won’t be a place for cuckolds except to clean up the mess
Slobber your way back to your retard facility. Sorry to the other tards.
Okay, I don’t doubt that, but all of Saskatchewan is only 1.2 million people and half of them live in Saskatoon and Regina. That leaves you roughly the population of Hamilton, assuming everyone not in these two cities is on board.
Every time I hear this “the West would join the US in a heartbeat!” I always think “which way do the cities lean?” because if the decision is made by a popular vote or plebiscite, you’re going to lose. Even if Trump were serious about annexing Canada – and he’s not – no part of Canada would actually go for it.
Cities that are cut off and starving have a tendency to surrender in exchange for the heat switched back on and food supplies to start rolling in again.
and those same anti american would call the chicoms friends …… pffft!
That number is probably the same as it always has been. 25% is probably a constant floor.
Idiots. If they were enemies we would have be Americans long ago. Keep watching CTV CBC etc.
The western half of Canada has enough population to be a medium sized State.
The eastern half of Canada has a population about equal to our two largest cities.
The U.S. isn’t Canada’s enemy. You could be a handful of States, but you’re too small to be an enemy.
Wyoming has less than a million residents. Alberta/Saskatchewan would be six time larger population wise.
Alberta/Sask would be smaller than Indiana, which is a medium sized State.
The whole of Canada has a population about the size of California, maybe a little more.
Wyoming likely has 6 times as many guns….
And Wyoming has a better Navy, Kraka.
> “Because [the poll] was conducted online, it can’t be assigned a margin of error.”
Never trust the results of an on-line poll, they are easily skewed … as the crowd at this site has amply demonstrated.
Nationalism is fun.
Three months I viewed America is a friend and ally. I now view it — or at least its president — as an enemy of Canada.
Which is perfectly rational given that Trump is constantly threatening to impoverish or annex Canada.
Canada is well on its way to impoverish thanks to the Trudeau Liberals and the NDP. How about focusing your wrath on them for a change.
Trump works for and does what he thinks is best for Americans, whereas Trudeau and his allies work against the interests of Canadians.
Yes, we know you are the enemy of common sense. You’ve proved your ignorance overwhelmingly.
Please KM, the friend part I get, but elucidate on “ally”.
Yeah, all Trump did was exposed Canada as Bananada and your Canadian Shield arises to protect a political class that hates your guts: the perfect “Canadian.”
Trump isn’t serious about annexing Canada, and anyone with half a brain knows it.
Quod erat demonstrandum.
As far as I can see, all that has happened in the last few weeks is that Trump has proposed a new tarriff regime and is collecting information and opinion to put it into final form. We are told that is perfectly rational to describe this as “threatening”, “attacking”, “assaulting”, “attempting to seize” Canada.
Look, for all I know Margaret Trudeau is your cousin and you absolutely have to stay on the good side of the Liberal Party or you’ll never have an endurable Christmas again. Sometimes even the most insanely extreme positions have some kind of legitimate basis. But we all know that the only reason to hate Trump is that the Liberals are telling you to. And if that’s good enough for you, you’re the problem.
Half of the Albertans that I know are anti-American nitwits. The stupid is strong in Cana-duh.
Most Americans don’t feel that way about Canada. Canada is more like the retarded little brother who has an infatuation with some totally lame stoner named Trudeau. You aren’t trainable, but we tolerate your stupidity so long as it isn’t threatening to burn the family house down.
If it’s any consolation, nearly half of US citizens are the same way. We call them Democrats.
That’s a fair assessment. As long as Canada doesn’t play with matches, we’re good.
Heh.did this “poll” ask how Canadians felt toward Ottawa?
That might have been too inciteful a question to allow..
My feeling have not changed.
I have more in common with my cousins in the USA than I do with Canadians on either side of me.
The phoney patriotism of these destructive takers is pathetic and hard to stomach.
When asked to choose between liars and thieves or the side of Common-sense?
Oh right, one is supposed to clutch pearls and shriek;”Orange Man Bad”.
As with the Ukraine Virtue Signalling..
My enemies are not in Russia,The Ukraine nor currently in power in the USA.
We should move the capitol of Canada to its geographical centre, the wind swept Barrens outside of Baker Lake Nunavut..
Then we can learn some respect for career civil servants..heh heh.
YES.
Geez. If it’s only one quarter of Canadians, I’d say that’s pretty good. I bet that’s a decline from the hate-rate 5 years ago.
