Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

Hang on Professor! Cause America is gonna DRILL BABY DRILL … and we’ll ship up some oil from the Gulf of America.
Meanwhile … Brian Z. is on Team Trudeau … NEVER Team Trump. Ohhhh! Canada … ohhhhhhhhh mimmaaaaaa
Drill baby drill won’t be as easy as we all wish

Plus, many of the refinery’s are only tooled to take heavy oil, not the sweet crude the US can produce. US and Canada would benefit if we maxed out North American oil shipments. What better way to control Russia and China?
Ohhhhhhhhh Mommmmaaaaaaaaaa … NOT Howard Co. !!!!???

One data point does not a broader trend make.
From the article:
“Meanwhile Texas’ total oil production continued to rise:”
There’s no reason to believe that Texas’s other counties will be exempt from the phenomenon.
Yes Brian Z has turned out to be a real disappointment supporting the Turd and supporting the man made global warming scam.
Pay equalization in oil.
Or not at all.
I don’t expect to see free trade in canada within his lifetime.
Quebec is on record, as of two days ago, reconfirming its rejection of pipelines across the province. Enjoy your Saudi oil Nova Scotia.
It looks like us Albertans are a stupid lot. We just keep on paying taxes to a bunch of Kaybek extortionists, hoping one day they will help out Team Canaduh. To continue this charade of a First World country is pure insanity.
I keep asking what benefit Albertans gets from staying in Canada. So far no one has offered to give me one benefit. Albertans could get $20,000,000,000 remaining in Alberta if we would just Wexit. Look at all those zeros. Twenty Billion.
You have to remember that Canada is full, really full of a lot of stupid people.
Indeed, Calgarians elected Mayor Nenshi followed by Mayor Gondek. Provincially, recent gems have included Ed Stelmach, Jim Prentice, Alison Redford and Rachel Notley.
Another factor is that many who live in Alberta have no deep connection to the province. They moved there from their old province to find work, and unless they really settle down they figure some day they’ll move somewhere else. Then there’s all those who are recent immigrants. They emigrated to Canada, not Alberta, and again, it will take years for them to start thinking of themselves as Albertans first.
But you never know. The feds, and especially Ontario, made it very clear they wanted to throw Alberta in front of the bullet of Trump’s tariffs, and that may have penetrated into the minds of even the oil patch crew.
Alberta might be a lost cause.
When I moved to Calgary in ’98 from ON, just after The Reform ran the worst election campain possible (Worked for them in a gay riding, Church to Bloor E, was winnable if any one of the stupid yahoos running the campain gave a crap about winning), I thought it was given that Alberta would go its own way.
When I spoke to succeed, I was told I was stupid and new nothing ( I’m an emigrant from a commie country-reading between the lines was an elementary school thing).
Only one person stood by me.
Do not take me wrong, I loved those boys dearly and I always will, ’cause it felt like home again among my friends in Calgary.
But I realized, it will probably never happen.
So sad!
Yukon, here I am…
Socialists in Quebec:
“Alberta will pay for our fancy-pants social programs!”
Socialists in Alberta:
“We will pay for Quebec’s fancy-pants social programs!”
Such is the Albertan intellect.
So what are the Eastern refineries tooled up for? Heavy or sweet? Would a pipeline to the East mean retooling Eastern refineries?
if that is a serious question I can ask around. I know natural gas is a BIG thing and not just from Alberta these days. There are lake freighters that dock at Sarnia. Origins unknown. It is a complex business
Ribbit!
What Blackoiuts?
He could change out the furnace, and heat with coal. Store a couple tons in the back yard and tell the utility company to get screwed. And still have a smaller carbon footprint than the esteemed PM.

At one time the QPP, Quebec’s version of CPP, was heavily invested in Saudi oil, probably still is.
“Let’s stay on a while, maybe they will change.”
No. No they won’t change. Let’s face it, choose independence or statehood, and get on with reclaiming our future. And let the east do whatever they want, but not on our dime. Then maybe they will change.
“The forest kept shrinking but the trees kept voting for the axe.
For the axe was clever and convinced them that since his handle was wood, he was one of them.”
Point is Trump doesn’t need to annex Canada as a whole, he only needs a piece to make dissolution of Canada happen.
In less than 30 days the prospect of the tariffs coming into effect takes place.
Anyone care to bet “the plan” to address the issues (that are the premise of the tariffs) will be in place or starting? Or will our betters still be in the planning stage preparing the PowerPoint presentation?
The second that tariff goes into effect all pretence of addressing the border issue will be moot and dissolution will begin in earnest.
How much of a better deal will he have to make to convince the majority of Albertans to leave confederation?
And what would Ottawa have to offer to want them to stay?
And the chaser
How would Americans feel about an administration that expanded US territory into a resource rich section of North America?
And established a contiguous United States on the continent..
