5. In the UK, a first time assault offender will only get a maximum of 6 months. However, the more common Magistrate sentence if found guilty is a minor fine.

   That alone is concerning. However, the more concerning thing about “Assault” in the UK now, is that you can be found guilty even if you don’t have physical contact with the victim. If a physical assault seems eminent (but doesn’t occur)…they can still convict you of Common Assault.

   Common Law in the hands of people with a power fetish really is disgusting.

13. I’m US but there’s something universal to this.

    Politicians always say they are fighting for this and fighting for that and fighting for you, but none of them ever seem to have so much as a skinned knuckle, bloody nose, or even their hair mussed up a bit. Not a scuffle on the house floor or even a whoopie cushion on an opposition member’s seat.

    Now here comes Mike Amesbury and he sucker punches and curb stomps a guy. He’s a fighter!
