We Don’t Need No Stinking Giant Fans

Because it’s a scam and voters are catching on.

The future of the clean energy transition is cloudy. It’s well-known that there are disagreements—wide disagreements—between Republicans and Democrats about our energy future. But less well-known is the bedrock of public opinion on America’s energy supply, the importance of a rapid transition away from fossil fuels, and the general salience of the climate change issue.

Findings from a new YouGov survey indicate that most voters’ views differ quite a bit from those of rapid energy transition advocates. These views constitute an ineluctable reality that any transition, on any timetable, will have to deal with. At the same time there is political opportunity here to better align policy priorities with voter preferences.

  1. In my experience, heat waves are cyclical. Sone years are cold, some are hot. There has been no increase. The chicken littles are working on people’s short memories and those not old enough to be experienced.

    1. Every year is different, sometimes dramatically so, and you’re exactly right Mike that people have lousy memories relative to weather.

      1. First it was global cooling, then global warming, then climate change, now climate crisis. The biggest scam in the history of the world. Al Gore and hundreds of others have become millionaires from this scheme. Madoff was jailed for his Ponzi scheme yet the lefties continue to walk free and reap the benefits from easily duped public

        1. Math is hard; science is simply indecipherable. Fortunately, the teacher’s union has declared both of those to be of no value to the little lemmings that they foster in the liberal hothouses. (A man who permits his enemy to educate his children is doomed.)

  2. – And lest it still need be said, the whole “CO2 causes global warming” is an absolute crock. CO2 is at saturation in the atmosphere, so more CO2 has very little effect – this was determined in 1900 by Knut Angstrom who published the first modern IR absorption spectrum of CO2. Latest literature I’ve seen, suggests that every doubling of CO2 (which even at today’s accelerated rates would take a LONG time) causes a 1°C temperature increase. I’ve got the references for this if anybody wants them.

    – BTW, not to mention that CO2 levels in the atmosphere were higher than they are now during all of the last five ice ages…

    1. Brilliant and critically important point, YK.
Ding Dong mainstream media continue to promote least-common-denominator “science” and imply that the alleged correlation between CO2 and temperature is linear.

      1. Agreed to both of you. The public has never been convinced of any of this. Public support for taking measures against AGW have not changed in three decades despite the relentless drumbeat of propaganda from the lamestream media. Its insistence on connecting everything bad to AGW may be at least part of why people no longer watch television news or take it seriously.

Most people are serious about wanting a clean environment. But AGW provides them with no detectible benefit. And after 30 years, this is a truly remarkable failure of propaganda.

        1. That, and every single prediction of catastrophic DOOM!® has come and gone without incident. cgh.

Just in case you didn’t get the memo, we all died about 30 or so years ago from… well, something. The next Ice Age? Overpopulation? No water (shower with a friend)?

    1. If western governments want to tax anything to stop “global warming”, they should immediately remove any taxes, surcharges, etc., on items manufactured here and slap a big fat “carbon tax” on everything imported from China and India. THEY are the issue…..not us. (If there is an issue at all).

    2. “Let’s wreck the US, UK, and Canadian economies so China and India can burn more coal.”

I bet the representatives from China and India, when they attend yet another ‘climate crisis’ conference in some luxurious resort, can barely contain their laughter.

      1. They have to be delighted by the stupidity and suicidal regulations the Deep State is implementing in the West. There will be no future war for control of the planet; the West will soon have committed outright suicide in every way imaginable, at no cost to China.

  3. It has been over a generation since our children were indoctrinated in our schools with ” An Inconvenient Truth”. What percentage of that film has turned out to be “disinformation ” or “misinformation”?

      1. Yep – the U.K. courts have directed that it not be shown in schools anymore without a disclaimer.

I’ve never watched it, but I’m familiar with one part of it – the “two thermometers in bottles” experiment Gore did with “Bill Nye, the Science Guy” (who BTW has declared for Kamala, and says that she can stop hurricanes – and no I’m not kidding; it was on Instapundit today: “Posted at 8:30 pm by Ed Driscoll”), where they put thermometers in two bottles, one with air and one with CO2, then shone a light on them and the thermometer in the CO2 bottle went up, the one in the air bottle didn’t. That experiment generated a lot of controversy, and several people tried to repeat it – but it only ever worked for Al Gore and Bill Nye. Coincidence? – or, Something Else…?

    1. Indeed they are. And it’s now part of The United Church of Canada communion service. 😉

George Carlin 1992 “The planet is Fine”

Humans building stuff or setting fires (many set by arsonists or sloppy campers) in the wrong places (flood zones, known earthquake areas, places with no fresh water, tornado/ hurricane locales) are the result of most contemporary disasters. All the green taxes, policy interventions and green jobs for over-priced consultants have resulted in few useful effects.

We can not even accurately predict tomorrow’s weather yet, let alone control CO2 in the world atmosphere. Canada has been and would be nicer with a bit more climate warming. More CO2=more trees. Wind mills are ugly, do not work well even in windy areas and break down; solar panels take up too much space and do not work for short days. Have we learned nothing?

  5. The problem with the clean-energy debate is that there is too much politics and partisanship, and not enough science.

    1. Definitely, KM.

And unfortunately, the scientists trained in our Canadian universities have been brain-washed by green political thinking and money from big donors, including some international non-citizens, who have other interests and pay-to-play.

The global western thrust (China, India and other proxy actors excepted) to demonize traditional, reliable heating sources has left few “scientists” who still can safely critique and query serious questions. Most are muzzled, as people are now jailed, or have their careers ruined, for thinking/speaking outside of “the narrative”.

    2. “The problem with the clean-energy debate is that there is too much politics and partisanship, and not enough science.”

      WAY too much, for sure.

That’s what generally happens when huge amounts of money are at stake…the actual facts take a back seat to The Narrative (and God help you if you threaten that in any way).

      1. “Where are all the engineers? It’s almost like they were put under a gag order.”

        Cowed into silence.

    3. Real science is uniformly categorized as disinformation. Anthony “the Science” Fauci really missed his calling. Far more will die at the hands of the Green Deluded than fell over stone dead from myocardia.

  6. A good start would be declaring all legislatures as ULEZ’s, starting with parliament hill and specific reference to human emissions of CO2

  7. Much support for “green energy” doesn’t deny that there are serious problems with using it as our primary energy source due to its intermittency, but instead posits that we’ll find solutions. If we can put a man on the moon, and all that.

But engineers are facing a daunting foe — thermodynamics — and there is no guarantee we’ll find a truly satisfactory solution. Despite the green’s conceit that mankind can solve any problem, Mother Nature is not for turning.

    1. The best solution for a reliable energy source that has no gaseous emissions is nuclear power. It provides most of the electricity for Ontario, and has done so for more than 30 years.

  8. In Canada climate is a federal issue and energy is a provincial issue. How can you build a battery plant, construct a mine, make a steel plant etc., with no power to connect to? The feds want renewable, industry wants reliable.

Limits on CO2 emissions put industry in an interesting stalemate. They need a commitment from government on a source of reliable power at the provincial level, but the province is limited by the federal government on what it can construct due to federal emission limit promises. The result is delays in major construction decisions. Add to this the expectations of First Nations and the fact that they mostly live in areas under-serviced by energy (Northern Canada) and we have a serious unsolvable problem brought to you by the current Liberal government in Ottawa. It’s almost on purpose. If I was China I would be golf clapping Canada right now.

    1. Climate is a “environmental” issue, and the environment is the purview of the provinces, but the feds as usual have been encroaching upon the provinces, and the Supremes have decreed that it’s a-ok under POGG for the feds to do that.

    2. Suggest you delete “almost.” It’s absolutely on purpose.

We are about twenty minutes away from Western governments outlawing homes that are self-sufficient, ie. ‘off the grid.”

  9. “Clean Energy”

We know there’s nothing “clean” about it, but I’m not clever enough to re-name it something catchy.

‘Part-time Energy’ ? ‘Intermittent Energy’? ‘Fraud Energy’? ‘Temporary Energy’? ‘Energy Zero’?

  10. I just ask people what would happen if the sun went cold tomorrow.
    Everybody knows the answer.
    Who’s your daddy?
    The sun.

  11. Look at the problems in Europe, immigration wise, etc, brought on/exacerbated by elected governments, look at the problems brought on by the newly elected Labor party in Britain, look how many people here would still vote for the Liberals/NDP (with or without Justin), look at how many would vote for Kamala.

Then ask again “How could people be so dumb as to believe in Climate Warming Global Change?”

  12. The Ron DeSantis Press Conference this morning was utterly disgusting. Not because of Ron DeSantis … he was spectacularly good … speaking as a true LEADER should speak. Covering the essential topics and updates in a calm, measured, and informative way. And many of you know, I am NOT a DeSantis fan because of his selling out to the OLD Republican guard and running against Trump. But all credit to Gov. DeSantis for his superb FL leadership.

What made the Press Conference disgusting? The Press. They continued to assert this hurricane WITH “hundreds of tornadoes” (there were hundreds of tornado WARNINGS … not tornados) was a shocking example of Global Warming. And DeSantis quickly disabused them of that notion as he recalled hurricane statistic back to the 1800’s. Yet the Global Warming LIAR Press kept at it … challenging his every defense of hurricane normality. Question (statement) after Question (statement) that Global Warming was destroying Florida in ways “never seen before”. To his immense credit, DeSantis calmly and factually rebuffed their every attempt to claim catastrophic climate change … and specifically CARBON … as the cause of hurricanes. The Global Warming Press are the shock troops of Useful Idiots for the Communist Democrat Party that seek to destroy American capitalism and free market economy.

    1. What’s “destroying” Florida?

      Air conditioning.

Population of Florida in 1900 was approx 530,000.

      Population today is approx. 22,600,000.

This explains why hurricanes are so much more “destructive” now than in the past.

  13. Yes, well … most normal people MOVE somewhere else, if conditions do not suit them.

Northern Canada is cold, so move or adapt. Crappy climates are not fixable by governments. Today’s major cities are not very inhabitable., due mostly to taxes, regulation etc.

  14. The heart of green is a scam.. Because of that it struggles with accountability.. Its just doesn’t play well at the highest level of government where transparency is expected.. How do you account for such things?.. You don’t..

Trudeau cant produce the information because it doesn’t exist.. Nothing under the redacted black boxes = True..
