1. Canada has the most good water on earth.
   We also have first world technology, when it comes to water and sewage systems.
   The “first” nations have been given Billions of dollars, enough to hire people to build and maintain water systems, just like everywhere else in Canada.
   What is the real agenda playing out?

2. From what I can tell Trudeau is only interested in Indians, or First Nations, as a shield of virtue to deflect from what he is actually doing. The urban voting class, on whom he depends, are all agog when he speaks of how he will lift up the oppressed First Nations, even though these same voters have never seen an Indian reserve. Meanwhile, as he is doing these things, he is importing millions of new Canadians, many of whom are Indians with a dot and not a feather, and if the immigration numbers are any indication he has already swamped and completely surpassed the numbers of First Nations. So, it seems it matters not a whit whether there is drinking water in the hinterland, the only important thing is votes. I’m pretty sure that our great leader is counting on those new votes, in the new post national Canada. I’ve learned not to underestimate the Liberal voter, nor the magic of the Trudeau name.

   1. Some natives are catching on, they don’t all have a chip on their shoulder.
      They’ll agree we are all in the same boat now.

3. Everyone in Canada pays for their water. We either buy it off our local municipal water provider or we are responsible for building and maintaining our own wells. The Indians can deal with their own damn water like the rest of us do.

6. One has heard over the years of bad siting of water treatment systems, where the water intake was downstream of the sewage system outflow. That being said, producing a system of both sewage and potable water for a small community should not be that difficult. A large part of the problem is keeping the system running so locals do have to be trained in upkeep and maintenance. But that’s not restricted to indigenous communities – think the Walkerton tragedy some years ago. And the local community needs to step up and assume responsibility for properly operating the system.
   Very much back in the day, happened to pass through a small northern community. The community had a well, but only the schoolhouse, the teacher’s residence, and perhaps one other building had running water. For the residents of the community, it was fetch and carry. Was shocked then, and still think there were serious issues within Indian Affairs that led the this situation. But this was from the same government that insisted on being handed a fair few lots in a new mining town for the indigenous, built houses which were much lower grade than the others in the community, and then charged those unfortunate enough to rent them much higher rents than other residents were charged (it was a company town). Natives would have been better served had the company building the town been allowed to build the same quality homes on all lots and reserve a certain percentage for natives. As it was, natives transferred to company housing as soon as they could.

I know there’s different types of natives across Canada and I’m not sure what they’re all like as far as their level of civilizational awareness goes, but here on the prairies reservation houses have a relatively short life span, and it’s not because of the quality. There’s exceptions of course.

7. How can anyone expect the FN’s to create a sophisticated water system, with all the underground pipes and whatnot … when they can’t even excavate a Residential School “grave site” with a Canadian Tire shovel!?

8. A typical Indian reserve with 1,000 people might have a budget of $30 million. Managing the reserve is done by the band council. Nowhere in the formula is the federal government responsible for funding the reserve plus separately managing water treatment. The problem is the chief’s cousin who runs the water treatment plant flunked grade 8 science. Water treatment is simple. Filter out the particles and pour the chlorine to it. It’s “can’t miss” except on Indian reserves. They don’t like the chlorine.
