Qatar is unwavering in its view that the world isn’t investing enough in natural gas. And the tiny Middle Eastern nation is trying to fix that.
State-owned QatarEnergy said Sunday it will develop a 16 million-ton-a-year LNG export project by the end of the decade. That’s on top of its previously announced record-breaking expansion plans.
Altogether, the Gulf state will boost shipments of liquefied natural gas by more than 80% by 2030.
The move illustrates the nation’s conviction that demand for gas, especially in Asia, will continue rising even as the world shifts to renewables. That’s at odds with organizations such as the International Energy Agency, which sees global consumption peaking this decade.

“even as the world shifts to renewables..”
Renewables will never be able to provide the world energy needs, when the world needs them..
We could have been at the forefront of this, country prosperous, sovereign provincial wealth funds topped off (some of the country, some of the provinces, anyways)..
It’s as if the eastern part of the country doesn’t want to see the west get ahead, to spite the entire country (rhetorical)..
Spring election, please, or Wexit!!
If Quebec had lots of oil and natural gas, I would bet my last dollar that this would be accommodated!
I think Quebec does have lots of gas and oil. Ask yourself how could they continue to justify sucking money out of the west if they developed their own energy sector? Why do the elites want out of Canada so badly? Could it be that they plan to develop their energy sector only after they leave Canada? Makes one go, “hmmmm”
Time to stop all shipments of oil, natural gas, propane, and gasoline to Quebec.
There is no such thing as renewal energy sources unless you are talking plant life and ain’t going to do it.
co2 case for Canadian LNG – you will not be reading about this report on any of the bought and paid for media outlets:
https://financialpost.com/news/canada-could-cut-entire-co2-emissions-economy-analysts
CO2 is not a climate driver or a climate problem. Without adequate atmospheric CO2 we all die, all of us, including those that think CO2 is a problem.
The International Energy Agency has no money in the game. They only make predictions. Many of these types of organizations have been captured by those pushing popular fads and have abandoned rigorous research and analysis. Models are driven by ideology and politics instead of economics.
Natural gas will grow because it’s affordable and reliable for baseload power or backup and for home heating. It is also easy to transport. Even the misguided renewable, green energy orientated countries need natural gas to back up their unreliable, intermittent wind and solar systems.
As the world shifts to more renewables, the world will need more natural gas.
They aren’t renewables. They are unreliables
the business case according to the empty hair
will no one rid me of this turbulent priest ?
“16 million-ton-a-year LNG export project ”
That’s progress and helps everybody’s standard of living everywhere.

The U.S. has totally eaten our lunch re LNG. A crying shame that Canada has failed so miserably in growing this industry. Spineless Justin!
Don’t worry, one more term with a Dem president and the US gas industry will be dead.
The US will be dead
The Liberal Party, and NDP by association, are Enemies of the State.
TBF … there IS a massive business case for a “net zero carbon future”. Why? Because the government is taxing the shit out of carbon based fuels and extracting massive $$$’s from business and consumers. And it’s driving up all costs, and all tax revenue across the board. When the government screws with the free market … it’s always a good business case to invest in Socialism.
Net zero will never exist on planet earth.
Only retards & ignoramuses are against NG use.
That’s why Juthtac*nt said what he said.
There is no business case for the prairie provinces…is what he meant to say.
It is important for Canada to build LNG terminals on both coast! This will likely only happen with a Conservative win! Time for Canada’s Oil industry to re engage!
