Hamas or E-Bike?

We report. You decide.

Sun- What looked like a bomb blast on TTC subway was actually an e-bike battery

The potential for this being much worse was off the charts. An e-bike battery problem on the subway that caused an extensive fire is believed to be a first in the underground. However, there have been many reports of electric battery fires in other venues, from homes to parking garages to even on a cargo ship.

This inferno that had potential to kill is just not something one would expect while riding the TTC subway. Or at least to have one start this way.

  1. Another reason for NOT riding public transit!
Sadly, I have used the subway while in Toronto – used it to travel from Danforth East to Terminal 3 at Pearson Airport in October. Was extremely fast and efficient. But do all passengers now have to check for e-bikes and move from that car?
The world has become a wild and crazy place!

  2. If the guy that brought the ebike onto the subway car was named “Achmed, Mahmoud,Abdullah, Abdul,Karim,Malik,Kamal,Omar,Salim,Yusef,Tamerlane or Mohamed, then it would have to be assumed it was terrorism, lol !!!!

    1. I would bet those are the names of half the couriers who bring their e-bikes on the subway.

  3. As the culprit isn’t identified, it’s possible (but unlikely) to be both…

and it’s unlikely the culprit will have to pay for the damages caused.

  4. Toronto Fire Deputy Chief Larry Cocco old CITY-TV News this year.
“The devices that are manufactured correctly and maintained correctly, we’re not seeing the problem.”

Well, Deputy, that’s just not true.

    1. Correctly manufactured is a euphemism not made in China. I know a number of older people with e-assist bikes and none of them have had any problems. But then, all of their bikes are of North American or European manufacture.

  5. Even if it was an accident this time, do the authorities not see the disastrous potential for misuse of these ready-made firebombs by terrorists (both foreign and domestic) in the near future? What about all of the illegally dumped EV batteries and eBikes that will soon spontaneously ignite in landfills, forests and dumpsters?

    1. There is also a chance of misuse of propane cylinders. Are you going to tell people they can’t BBQ or solder joints any more?

      1. Much like unsecured cockpits, I’m sure the see-no-evil, hear-no-evil, speak-no-evil crowd will obviously have to learn the hard way.

  6. They care more about their virtue signaling than OUR safety. ALL lithium battery powered vehicles should be banned for our collective safety.

  7. What are the odds that lightning strikes on the same night as a terrorist rally?.. What are the odds that the commissars would tell us the truth about it anyway?..

Remember the fake fires Trudeau’s brownshirts lit at the Freedom Convoy.. Awww the good ole days when this sort of thing was fun..
