16 Replies to “Why Doesn’t Mitch McConnell Resign?”

  1. What are his numbers in Kentucky? The only place that matters.

Poll conducted by Monmouth University. A $62,000 a year private school in New Jersey.

  2. Unfortunately, I think we’re stuck with Mitch until he assumes room temperature. Without the tools of government at his disposal he’s exposed. To what you might ask. Well, when an octogenarian with obvious health issues jumps on a plane and takes a 12 hour flight to Ukraine with no pretense, you know it isn’t for public relations reasons as described for the public. He’s up to his neck in various questionable practices. Additionally, there are some questionable profits related to the Chao Companies and communist China.

In his position of power he’s in a position to run interference on any exposures. As a private citizen, there’d be questions. Trump fired some shots across his bow on both of these issues and that might be his motivation for not voluntarily stepping down.

  3. Why doesn’t he resign? Cause the money’s too good. Other than Pelosi I don’t know anyone who’s enriched himself more.

    1. Exactly. The Chao money he collects via his wife’s connections in China is just too good to be abandoned.

      1. At his age what will he spend his ill gotten millions on? As an old man myself I often wonder just what is the point of their avarice, they are too old and too close to death for it to have any long term meaning. Yet they continue to work to destroy freedom and America, for money?

  4. Cocaine Mitch is useless as a politician. He long ago abandoned the idea of serving anyone else and serves only himself. That is why George Washington served his two terms and when they offered him a third and potential permanent position as king, he went home to the farm. Career politicians, of all stripes, are poison to the needs of the country. Canada’s senatorial appointments are an excellent example of the same phenomenon.

  5. He deserves credit for his SCOTUS nominee efforts over the years, but he’s long past his sell-by date AND NEEDS TO GO. Just another glaring example of just how utterly broken and destructive Washington DC is.

    1. Trump is not a DC guy. He tried to trust the people around him. (GOP) If he is re-elected. I’m sure he won’t make that mistake again.

    2. Trump hired his wife as an olive branch and an effort to gain his cooperation on getting the right bills through the Senate. It’s a common practice. One which Bob Dole made a career out of. Libby Dole became the Secretary of Labor through GHWBush. She leveraged a dept of Transportation Secretary position out of Reagan. She was Commissioner of the FTC thanks to Nixon.

If a president wants to shape policy he needs a favorable influence in the Senate. McConnell failed to act as an ally in any capacity other than Supreme Court nominees, and it’s one of the reasons Trump shows such negativity towards McConnell. Backstabbing is an accurate term for Mitch in that regard.

  6. I think you can count on him making some poor choices again and being betrayed again. He is human.
    I hope he becomes president again…but …
All “conservative” leaders have let conservatives down. Here in Kanada too. And it will happen again.

  7. Mitch and Joe Biden were/are on the Chinese payroll. How many other senators are in the same position? They will never investigate nor will the FBI.
