2. Carney’s Davos Speech was not “standing up to Trump”.

   Carney stated that if the US was no longer Canada’s staunch ally, then it had better find other allies. That’s co-operating, not opposing.

      Here’s Carney’s:
      “Tonight, I’ll talk about a rupture in the world order, the end of a pleasant fiction, and the beginning of a harsh reality where geopolitics – where the large, main power – is submitted to no limits, no constraints.”

      (The remainder of the speech outlines *or more aptly…whines* about the unfairness of a powerful state dictating power economically over the “middle states.” The crux, according to Carney, is actually ironic. He insists that national sovereignty is threatened by this situation. While, reasonable people would argue that the middle state (Canada) was hindered by its own choices based on sovereignty. Essentially, the economic weaknesses of Canada are largely self-inflicted. The US didn’t tell Canada to gut its industrial base in the name of Mother Nature’s wrath. That was a sovereign decision. And, those that gave a standing ovation did so recognizing their own similar failings in that regard)

            1. This consumer doesn’t make purchasing decisions as directed by a Billionaire who got filthy rich doubling down on globalism and cheap slavish labor in unregulated hellhole countries. Nor do I listen to the tooth fairy. Tariffs are not paid 100% by the consumer … because we go elsewhere if the supplier jacks up their prices equal to the tariff.
