December 2021 to June 2023 is only 19 months. A year and a half. A long way from “less than three years.” That makes the 18.2% inflation TWICE AS BAD.
Interesting to note in Knight’s article that Canada apparently prohibits foreign grocery chains from setting up shop here. Kind of like the airlines and telecom industries with all the predictable consequences.

Loblaws should fight back, explaining that their profits are always between 1-3% on their investments, after they’ve paid + 25% to the various levels of government.
Perhaps the #Libranos will force them to break up divisions. Then we’ll be stuck with the tier 2 food marts like Safeway and Sobeys and everyone will then ask why their food costs have taken another 20% jump in costs?
