            Re. the 39 sec clip, it looks like they were discussing if the Ukies blowing up the dam constitutes a war crime.
            The talking head is making a historic reference. The Allies blew up the dams of the Mohne and Eder reservoirs in 1943. 1400 died. No one called it a war crime.

            In the linked clip, the talking head did not say: “That’s why the destruction of Kakhovska dam isn’t a crime.”

            No rational person would conclude the linked clip is an admission by Russians that Russia blew the dam.

  16. I don’t want to reveal TOO MUCH personal information … but I was working late during the Loma Prieta quake … across the Bay in Larkspur. I watched out the building window to see what was happening to the 200 ft tall, 19th century brick smokestack that had just been reinforced with an internal tubular steel sleeve and tied with rock anchors through the bay mud. I swear I watched as the top of the smokestack swayed 6 ft at the top. I was waiting for it to topple over … but it only lost a few bricks that fell from the top.

    I listened to the horror stories of the double-decker fwy in Oakland collapsing, and the collapse of the Bay Bridge. I had to cross the Richmond/San Rafael bridge to go home. It’s something of a sketchy looking bridge to begin with … and I was panicked to cross it. I finally did … and got home to my family who said our two-story home had really swayed wildly, but there was no damage.

    Despite the epicenter being reasonably far away in the Santa Cruz mountains … it was powerful enough to cause significant damage throughout the Bay Area. Yeah, the BIG ONE … that has been promised my entire 67 years … is gonna hit us and sink CA into the sea. What do “they” say about that? It’s a good start.
