Showing Up To Riot

Reuters;

Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte’s government faced a no-confidence vote on Wednesday over plans to cut nitrogen emissions on farms, three weeks after being beaten in provincial elections by a farmers’ protest party opposed to such cuts.

Rutte’s centre-right coalition is expected to survive the vote as its four parties together hold a slim majority in the 150-seat parliament, but the opposition’s move underlines the government’s vulnerability following the elections. […]

In a big shock for the Netherlands’ political landscape, the farmers’ protest party BBB (BoerBurgerBeweging – Farmer Citizen Movement) emerged as the clear winner of the provincial elections on March 15. Those results determine the make-up of the Senate, the Dutch upper house of parliament.

  1. From the linked Reuters article (my bold): “Put the country’s interest first and quit today,” said Geert Wilders, leader of the far-right Freedom Party (PVV).

Why is it always, sane, sensible, productive people who just want to be left alone that are Far Right?

Oh… yeah… I forgot. Anyone 2 inches to the right of Stalin and Mao are far, far, far right-wingers. SPIT!

Sidebar: Hmmm… So exactly who is leftwing if Commie/Marxist/Tyrant bastards are the mainstream centrists? I’m trying to recall when I last saw or heard of a leftwing person or group mentioned in the news and I’m drawing a blank.

    1. Well … at least Reuters said the quiet part out loud … FREEDOM … is a “Far Right” value. All others must recite the exact words and behaviors as scolded by the government struggle sessions.

      1. Note also how, with the Proportioinal Representation style parliaments, the defeated party still forms the government. You jusy can’t kick the bastards out like you can in FPTP.

        1. This is absolutely correct. The only reason the Liberals haven’t gone for it here, yet, is because they enjoy having the occasional majority government.

          1. Liberals now have near permanent power utilizing the same tactics as PR governments. So long as the Liberal/NDP coalition holds, there will never be another Conservative government.

        2. The Canadian version of FPTP has morphed into a form of governing where even if you lose you form government. The LPC and the ndp pretend to be seperate and different parties but they are the same. FPTP with 30% of the popular vote puts you into the rat house. The conservatives who have won the popular vote the last couple of elections are relegated to 3rd place.

  2. Rutte coalition is “center right”? Center right must mean something different than I thought it did.

    1. Ward
My cousins over there think they are right wing, but they would make communists blush with their leftist BS.

  3. “Nitrogen oxides in the Dutch soil and water are much higher than European Union rules allow due to relatively high numbers of livestock and a heavy use of fertilizer that has made the small country one of the world’s major agricultural exporters.”

Reads like, Produce Less food to me.
The “center-right’ commies need to be carbonized.

    1. Commies forbid that one grows enough food for oneself and to share with others.

Wait a minute………isn’t that the whole idea behind communism……

  4. It’s 9PM Wednesday in Amsterdam. Did they vote yet?

    I cannot find an announcement.

      1. Ed,
        Thank you.

I guess their own personal political positions matter more to these MP’s than doing what is right for the Netherlands?

Sigrid Kaag, whose D66 party was runner-up in last month’s elections, said she was unsure about joining a new government with Mr Rutte. “My confidence in him has been severely damaged. I blame him for that.” She and Wopke Hoekstra of the Christian Democrats submitted the disapproval motion against Mr Rutte, even though their parties had backed him in the confidence vote.

They dislike him, but not enough to actually call for new elections? Some real Dutch Patriots there!

  5. If you think a bunch of unarmed pacifists are gonna beat the WEF, well, I got some bad news for you, sunshine, esp here in Canada, where actually fighting is viewed by both the left and the right as a crime worthy of having your neighbors denounce you, just like OJ would denounce native gun-runners to our owners with self-righteous glee.
Who will you denounce? E-bike owners? Booze distillers? Gun owners? Drunk drivers?
C’mon man, we all know Canadian conservatives are itchin’ to rat out someone, because they are all Karens, with nary a molecule of testosterone to share amongst the lot of ’em.

  6. How is Rutte “center right”? When he wants to cut nitrogen emissions. That’s trudeauesque, leftest thing.
