      Does calling a petty bureaucratic regulation a mandate, make it noble and to be obeyed, or something? We now live in a Mandatory, not a Democracy.

      But hey, if it requires imprisonment of the population to save the planet, surely that is a price worth paying … by the mandatees, not the mandators of course.

  2. I was having this electric car conversation with someone yesterday. This whole thing boils down to the cost to society (all of us, in other words) of discarding internal combustion engines and substituting electric, battery-powered engines instead.

    Meaning, we retire all the drilling, refining, transporting and retailing infrastructure of gasoline/diesel, retire all the working vehicles and replace all that with electrical generation, transporting and charging infrastructure, and brand-new vehicles.

    How much is that going to cost us as a civilization? The answer is going to be a lot more than $99 billion dollars.

    Additionally, this is a -pure- cost because we will be replacing something that works just fine. The equivalent of buying a new spring coat because last-year’s is out of fashion.

    Can we afford that?

  5. If the Gov’t of Canada is expecting copper to be as it’s currently priced, they’re on acid.
    I doubt there’s enough copper to build out the infrastructure for the electrical transmission, not that there “not being enough CU” (or lithium for batteries) is going to faze the imbeciles in Ottawa.

    They’ll simply mandate something else.

  7. My cousin had a Tesla. She was happy with it in the summer but winter not so much. She said she was lucky to get two hours driving time out of it in cold weather and the power for heat was all used to keep the batteries warm leaving the cab freezing cold.

    Voting seems to now be pointless.
    Friends, right as they are , cannot dither on what they know is coming, because they have families to raise. They know but they hate the feeling in their gut, the undue malevolence by those that deserve no respect, as it seems more by the day by design.
    As sad as it can be, that is what’s happening.
    And the hardest part if, it isn’t yet for the individual (that doesn’t believe in participation badges) is going to be actually being an individual with their own mind and free to speak it.
    The “enlightened” know this they have all along and they aren’t done with the outsiders yet.
    Not by a long shot.

You will take whatever the government provides and be thankful and should you dissent, or complain, you will be killed through imprisonment in a gulag or deprivation as your available resources are dwindled to nothing. In short, the promise of the current regime is serfdom – you will own nothing and you will be happy or dead (the part that they don’t say out loud). There will never be enough infrastructure for all Canadians to have an electric car, there will never be enough electric transport to supply you with the food, procreating will be discouraged as there will never be enough resources for your children. The elite will have everything, you will have nothing or limited something as long as you comply.

    Once you recognize the true agenda, it all starts to make sense. They are out to kill 95% of you and they don’t want you to understand the goal.

        1. Been looking. In the prairies, they’re as scarce as hen’s teeth & twice as expensive. They go often and at decent prices in Ontario, but that’s a bit of a drive, both for a viewing & to trailer it back, especially in my EV…

  18. There is zero evidence that switching to EVs will reduce CO2 anyway. I believe Bjorn Lomborg calculated you would need to drive at least 50,000 km to break even with the extra CO2 required to build an EV. EVen that did not include things like extra mineral mining and processing. How many batteries will even get to 50,000km?

  21. If the Libs stay in power, I think they should give the whole electrical system upgrade project to the gang that is in charge of military procurement. The downside is the cost would more than double. The upside is that the project would never happen. Joe Biden and I are the same age as the Browning 9mm pistol they are currently close to replacing.
