Professional associations with “right to practice” benefits (a government granted monopoly on related work) are nothing more than an example of guild socialism. It is impossible for such institutions to remain professionally independent of the state and in today’s uber-politicization, independent of politics. I know as I used to be in one and I am no longer willing to be even be a non-practicing retiree. They are professionally corrupting. Petersen should tell them to stuff their guild as he likely no longer needs to practice in Morontario. If you need the state to sell your value and expertise through coercion, you can be compelled to act as their agent. This is why the silence of the Covid Stalinism from the Medical profession was deafening.
