  2. Just install bicycle seats, pedals and handlebars. Then the passengers can peddle to charge the batteries.

    Their exertion should generate enough heat to keep them warm.

  5. In cities, perhaps they should bring back the overhead contact wires that seemed to work fine when I was a kid in the fifties. Besides, they have that Soviet look to them which is more in keeping with the sociopaths in charge.

    1. Edmonton had overhead electrical wires for buses past the point where everyone was screaming about global warming. They had electrical and went back to diesel. Now the morons are going back to electrical buses hauling around tonnes of batteries that are about as mobile as an iceberg at 30 below.

    2. Toronto had electric trolley busses until the early 1990s. The old wires and busses needed replacing and the TTC did not want to spend the money. So they hired Pollution Probe, an environmental “think tank” and activist group, to publish a report saying that electric vehicles were not really clean — you need to burn something somewhere to make that electricity, so you can’t say electrics are “green”. TTC got their way and pulled down the wires, putting diesel buses into the concrete canyon of Bay Street and through the residential areas along Ossington.

      That’s pretty much when I learned that almost all environmental activism is pretty much bullshit — it’s either rent seeking or NIMBYism.

  6. Just travel across western Canada and think of what would be here without fossil fuels. If we allow to be blinded by this insanity, you may as well shut the lights off and move somewhere else.

  8. My Tesla Model Y lost 20percent of its range during the recent cold snap. It has a battery warmer that activates prior to charging.

    So if you are stupid and don’t warm the battery then you will have problems. Just like plugging in your battery warmer on your ice car.

    So this is a flat out lie. But you people are so incredibly stupid you will believe this nonsense. You are naive and gullible and just incredibly dumb.

    2. You need to have a battery warmer in your Tesla? I have had many ICE vehicles over the years, and none of them had battery warmers.

      Sitting in my driveway is an ’08 4 cylinder Tacoma that fired up with no problems when it recently hit -30C. Not only is there no battery warmer, I don’t even bother to plug in the block heater.

      The point being that in a Canadian winter, an ICE vehicle makes far more sense than an EV. Not to mention being far cheaper, less dangerous (battery fires), and better for the environment than any EV will ever be.

      However- I fully support your CHOICE to buy an EV. What concerns me is that in the future, I will not be given that choice. Oh well, it’s a Toyota, which means I’ll drive this thing for the next 30 years, or until I die, whichever comes first.

      1. Canada will look like Cuba with all the old cars still on the road in 2030. My 2006 Subaru has got many more miles to go though it has collected its share of dents and scratches, It has electric windows, heated front seats, great in the winter. A/C which we only need a few days of the year in Vancouver. It has an electric sun roof too for use infrequently.

      That’s like me arguing that because an internal combustion Ferrari Testarossa can do 0 to 100 in 4 seconds, my internal combustion Hyundai Elantra can also do 0 to 100 in 4 seconds. They’re all the same. Any evidence to the contrary is a lie and I don’t care what you call me.

      If you drive a Tesla, why are you even reading and commenting on this blog? Shouldn’t you be staring at yourself in the mirror and admiring what a good person you are for believing in the right things?

      1. I’m just a lowly peasant that can’t afford a Tesla but I’m pretty sure she is just here to mock people. I would be curious to see the readout on the power percentage that goes to keep the battery warm while the car is driving in -30°-45° temp range though.

        That was actually my first thought, too. I guessing that she doesn’t understand how her car interior will be heated in the winter either.

I can’t imagine watching my fuel guage like a hawk every minute of every day and then desperately pulling into the large lineup at the fueling station hoping like hell the fuel pump works in a driving snow blizzard.. But thats just me… And by the way.. Where does the electricity come from.. a coal,diesel powered generator somewhere.
