    1. A great songwriter and a real gentlemen — and REAL. I was an aspiring songwriter back in the 70s — and had a measure of chutzpah. Called him at his hotel when he was performing in Fredericton and was immediately connected to his room. He was warm and very friendly; he talked with me a good spell, gave me some tips and wished me well.

      Ian Tyson, RIP.

      1. I remember buying Great Speckled Bird back when I was an aspiring hippy, probably because Ruling Stone reviewed it. I was amazed to discover I really liked that stuff.
He could sing about hard items and trouble, with sincerity and a Canadian feeling. But, of course, I felt Canadian back then.
        Anyhow:

    1. BD, we have reached a level of stupid heretofore never experience by mankind, people kind, probably, maybe, Trudeau would know.

      1. Throwing the unasked question into sharp relief: Where the hell do they put it?

        On second thought, I don’t wanna know…

  1. “Do you want to negotiate with Russia?” Ukrainians in a Kiev market respond:

The same resolve is evident everywhere you go in Ukraine. The sooner orcs understand that they cannot win against that, that their genocidal campaign is unwinnable, the less of them will be used to grow sunflowers. They should all pack up, go back to Orgimmar, have a nice civil war there, and wipe each other out.

    1. What a f’n beavertail that Cameron dude is, but he is from the Great White North.
I guess that rules out using really BIG guns against man eating Aliens, like Hicks said ” maybe harsh language will work “.
      NO nuking from orbit.

    1. Thanks Linda…saw it on a twitter account, tried to send it in an email unsuccessfully.
It is deep sixed on Youtube….no surprise.

  2. L – The political conflict and economic decline in Canada and the U.S. gets scarier.
The shortage of tradesmen, accelerated by early retirements due to Covid Lockdowns.

  3. The control of the Dear Leader over the legacy media cannot get any more obvious. John Ibbotson has an opinion column in the Globe and Mail (behind the Globe’s paywall, which will keep many SDAers from experiencing a brain aneurism) in which he praises the Dear Leader for his transformative reign. These are Ibbotson’s opening paragraphs :

“Because political memory is short, we can too easily forget how transformative Justin Trudeau’s seven years as Prime Minister have been for Canada.
He came to office in November, 2015, with an ambitious agenda. That ambition has been largely realized. While the costs have been substantial, Canada is a different country from what he inherited. In the main, it is better.”

There is a positive side to the column though, which has received close to 800 comments. All of the “most respected” comments (as voted on by readers) are highly critical of Ibbotson’s view and the Dear Leader. This is second on the list of “most respected”:

    from “matt Calgary” :

“This column is fantasy/fiction and something out of Butts/Telford’s offices. Here is the reality:
    1) Canada has doubled its debt in 6 years. Cuts will be coming. It is nice to start social programs but irresponsible when inflation is 7% and we are borrowing to pay for them.
    2) investment into Canada is low and we are expected to grow the least among G20 nations the next few decades.
    3) Canada has never been this divided. We have separatists in 3 provinces now.
    4) The EU trade deal was 90% done by Harper. The US Trade deal we gained nothing and only lost things. It was a net loss for Canada.
    5) Our carbon emissions keep growing larger. We have green belts being bulldozed for more housing. Trudeau personally has Canada’s highest carbon footprint. This while the poor struggle to heat their homes in winter.
    6) Hateful American style wokeness/ critical race theory has infested nearly every aspect of federal government and Canada. The result is we are not a meritocracy anymore.
    7) Weak on world stage under Trudeau. We lost the security council seat (3rd place out of 3 countries). We block LNG which would enrich Canada and hurt Russia.
    8).Corruption. WE, SNC, etc”

    1. If the government is paying for this drivel, which the government wants the people to lap up like a thirsty dog on a hot day, why is it behind a paywall? Now I’ve gone and given the dirty Communists an idea haven’t I?

    2. Good grief. Ibbitson used to be smart. I used to love Canada, but I am at the point of wanting to leave. The Liberal government since 2016 has steadily eroded much of what made the country great. Such a shame.

  4. Here’s a good news story .
This Buffalo area man, Cheektowaga, saved over 11 people , 2 dogs and helped over 24 people during that brutal windy storm Friday December 23 , by smashing a window to gain access to a nearby unused school to house the people he saved from their broken down vehicles.
He went out multiple times and used the schools snowblower/shovel to clear snow out and bring peoples cars back to the school parking lot with them in it using his truck as a tow.
Got people set up and fed , dried off , sleeping accommodations in the school.
Even left a note saying he was sorry for the damage and he is willing to come back and pay for it plus the use of the tools.

That’s a hero in my books, that boy was raised correctly.

    1. Great story. Surprised the lefty NY cops didn’t charge him w/ something. Seems no good deed goes unpunished these days.

      1. The sad part is he knocked on doors for help for sheltering these people and was turned away.
Even offered $ 500 of his own money.
        Sound familiar , Bethlehem AD 0 .
