California Urges Avoiding Charging Electric Cars to Ward Off Blackouts in Heatwave Because State Loses Solar Power When the Sun Goes Down
Just days after passing a law banning new sales of gasoline powered cars by 2035, California is urging residents to avoid charging their electric vehicles during peak hours in the coming week to help ward off blackouts during an expected heatwave.
“During a Flex Alert, consumers are urged to reduce energy use from 4-9 p.m. when the system is most stressed because demand for electricity remains high and there is less solar energy available. The top three conservation actions are to set thermostats to 78 degrees or higher, avoid using large appliances and charging electric vehicles, and turn off unnecessary lights.“

Back when power grid was paying for power generated by solar panels, the rate was so good, that some folks did some really creative solution. This one guy was caught because he was generating power at night with his diesel generator.
there have been a couple of occasions where solar was generating while dark, and wind generating without wind, but it only took the authorities a few years to figure it out….

Scenario – ” You receive an email from Hydro One (Ontario) – ” We have noted that you current usage indicates high usage of your air conditioner, given the current heat wave and high demand, we have asked our customers to limit such usage. If you do not reduce usage within 1 hour we will cut your supply to zero”
They can do this today

I just got this direct email from PG&E … BRIBING us to “shut it all down, ma’aaaan”. Literally! They’re telling us to not only shut off our AC … but to unplug our computers … and everything else. This is funny and ironic timing. It could get worse. Imagine the following scenario after Cali outlaws ICE cars and further destabilizes their electricity grid with intermittent green power : massive earthquake, fire or other natural disaster. Electricity system is down. No ability to charge vehicles. Dead electric vehicles clogging up highways. Unlike gasoline vehicles, you can’t siphon gas or otherwise quickly refuel. Very little possibility of escape. Think of the harrowing videos of people evacuating Fort Mac fires but using with electric vehicles preventing highway travel.
I for one will not mourn their passing. The irony in all of this, is that the Coastal F**ktards seem on a course to collective suicide.
