Gunter- Feds admit their plastics ban will actually increase waste
In the Environment department’s own “regulatory impact assessment,” federal researchers claimed, “the proposed regulations would prevent approximately 1.6 million tonnes of plastics from entering the waste stream over the analytical period.” That’s 2023 to 2032. But the ban “would also add about 3.2 million tonnes of other materials to the waste stream from the use of substitutes.”

It’s all those peoplekind in Moose jaw throwing their plastic into the Pacific Ocean.
Into the wind, yet!
Must be some good arms there.
When people feel the need to gut their perfectly usable homes I ask them if they believe all the dumpster trash is going to be recycled. Few accept my inquiry as a planet saving inquiry.
So the math demonstrates net stupid.
Name any government program in the last 50 years that wasn’t.
Normal people capable of independent thought would have claimed that this plastics ban was posturing and unnecessary.
But this is Canada, so …
The environmentalcases have decided that so called “single use plastic bags” need to go, because everyone takes those bags home from the store and immediately throws them in the garbage in their clown world. In the real world, the rest of us use them multiple times, including as garbage liners, which will now be replaced by purpose bought garbage bags, which usually end up as single use.
In a just world, the government would have to live with these plans for 5 years before they inflict them on the rest of us.
It will be like those mercury light bulbs from about 8 years ago which were mandated by the federal government. Then it turned out that they could not be disposed in garbage because if the glass broke (which it does), the mercury leaked out and caused other environmental problems. Besides the light emitted made everyone look like they were in a zombie movie.
I DO like the LED bulbs – long lasting and decent light. But then, they were not mandated by government workers, the market liked them, and they took off in sales.
Well. No further comment is needed.
They forgot to factor in that the crickets you will be eating are self-packaged and don’t require utensils…mmmm finger food.
