Professor Carrie Bourassa resigned from the University of Saskatchewan (USask) Wednesday over questions about her claims she’s indigenous.
Bourassa claimed to be Metis, Anishinaabe, and Tlingit, but her ancestry came into question by a CBC investigation in the fall of 2021. […]
“USask has placed Dr. Bourassa on leave and she is relieved of all her duties as professor in the USask College of Medicine in the Department of Community Health and Epidemiology. Dr Bourassa will not return to any faculty duties during this investigation,” said the USask media release.
Bourassa received millions of dollars of research grants for indigenous health and was considered a leader in the field.
The Institute of Indigenous Peoples’ Health removed Bourassa from her position as scientific director which is part of the Canadian Institutes of Health Research.
Just another reminder that race is a social construct, plus we need millions in public spending for race-based medicine, because science.

Why can’t they claim to be whatever they want? It’s the current year.
Pretty sure that in Sask the policy for attending a post-sec institution is the applicant self identifies as to whatever — the more boxes ticked the more wrungs in the ladder they will climb. Imagine a situation where a certain person decides to take TFLU (the fake leg up) and gets preferential treatment all the way through to becoming a medical professional — Dr., Nurse, whatever. Bet if you did the test you’d find a goodly percentage who test positive. You know they’d be pushed up the ladder because every HR “professional” is filling their quota and every “Manager” in the bureaucracies pay bonus depends on it. This was happening in the Federal Government in the 1980s and 90s and produced STARs (STupid Affirmative action wReckers) like this one http://cnsc-ccsn.gc.ca/eng/resources/canadas-nuclear-history/past-presidents/linda-keen.cfm who took on PMSH and lost!
I’m not sayign the woman who took on the PMSH was lying but I’ll bet she was promoted because she belonged to the fake majority called womanhood!
A huge incentive for affirmative action lying has been created. Folk will take advantage but only those who step out of line will be caught!! Wonder what this Dr. in Sask woman did to step out of line?
There’s a fair bit of Quebec Cree in my spouse’s family. Have seen family photos – one wedding in particular – where the whole bridal party could be taken for full-blood indigenous. There’s also the “tanning differential”: some family members burn, others just go a mellow brown. But – more to the point – all these family members have chosen to live and work in the wider community, preferring to be recognized for their character and abilities than their ancestry.
Frances
My one son in law discovered he was part indian when my X was doing family tree research, he had NO clue, asked his G Mother , who confirmed that his GG Mother was full blood XXXXXX. H e also has Black heritage. But is lighter skinned than me!
If simply declaring whichever sex you are to be yours, based upon feelings and not necessarily biology, why wouldn’t the same rule apply to race?
She will win the Human Rights Tribunal case.
For did not our glorious Supreme court rule that “We are all Metis Now” as we can self identify and if another, self identifying Metis agrees then the court must accept their native rights and privileges..
This is the HRT food chain, fake rights are so important that the Commission can deny defendants your legal rights and the ultimate defence of TRUTH,but same characters will never take a case against Emperor Justine and his magic Covid Crisis..which stripped all Canadians of any pretence of Human Rights and Freedoms.
Best line for the future;”It is gonna be an axe that sets you free”,for is not a guillotine nothing but a big ass axe?
And The Guillotine,it is our heritage.
Telling such nose-stretchers worked for Liz Warren, didn’t it?
If systemic racism was really a problem (as the BC government asserts repeatedly these days) tens of thousands of Canadians wouldn’t suddenly be self-identifying as Indigenous. Because that’s what is happening these days.
Canada’s cult-like obsession with all thing native is getting really weird.
I noticed that too. It’s so hurtful to constantly be the victim of ugly systemic racism in Canada and the US, yet “progressive” whites are claiming to be indigenous? Because…
Well the only reason I can think of is that if you have the right connections, being indigenous is way better than being white.
Dirtman, it is at the very least profitable.
Very profitable. No GST, in Ontario, no HST. No need for a fishing or hunting licence (s). Catch and kill fish and game whenever and wherever, with no seasons or limits. The the R’s – no Rules, no Regulations, no Responsibilities.
+++Bruce. So many people are “unwilling” to see that.
Not weird, by design. Goal is to give back control of the land to natives. Which again will assist destroying the west.
Assholes come in all types, but pretending to be a different type of asshole is a dick move.
Making a dick move to be some other type of asshole obviously gets messy.
So just be that asshole you were born to be.
Believe all woke white women who steal cultural identities!
I can hardly keep up with their slogans, anymore.
Also, if conservatives had any killer instinct, they would mock and condemn Bourassa, Warren, etc., relentlessly for wearing redface. I for one, sure miss Trump’s witty and to the point “mean tweets”.
The sad part of this is that there will be no inquiry into what extent her claims of Indian ancestry – real or imagined – contributed to the acquisition of her degrees or her teaching position.
The grift is strong with that one or alternatively the UVR is strong in that one.
From a NYPOST story….
It started to unravel in 2019, when she appeared in full tribal regalia — draped in an electric blue shawl, with a feather in her partially braided hair — to give a TEDx Talk at the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon.
“My name is Morning Star Bear,” she said tearfully as the crowd cheered.
“I’m Bear Clan. I’m Anishinaabe Métis from Treaty Four Territory,” she proclaimed as she described an impoverished childhood beset by violence…….
But when pressed to provide evidence of Native American heritage, Bourassa suddenly changed her story — saying that she had been adopted into the Métis community by an unnamed Métis friend of her deceased grandfather, Clifford Laroque.
“Even though Clifford passed, those bonds are even deeper than death because the family has taken me as if I was their blood family,” she insisted in a statement. “In turn, I serve the Métis community to the best of my ability.”
Just another Rachel Dolezal or Elizabeth Warren and (honourary mention to Archibald Stansfeld Belaney), seeking advancement in society by abusing a system through grift. She probably would have gotten away with it to, except they can’t help themselves as their prestige increases.
Meanwhile in Australia…

I’m no ordinary elder.
CBC must have gone into a hysterical rampage when they saw whitey having the same privileges granted to the exalted minorities.
Tell me more about white privilege?
I could easily overlook all Martin Luther King’s other pastimes, for an honest evaluation of the content of a mans character..
All these race and ancestor obsessed morons are empty vessels ,desperate for some spark of individuality.
Some distinguishing marker to validate their existence..
Almost as if they need God or Gods and a religion to place themselves within.
I guess when you have no skills,no natural talent and no one to say a kind word, then you have to make something up.
It is all so lame, pointless and futile..
You MUST Respect me.because..***…Ain’t gonna happen.
How is your work?
Is a deadly question to the psych of these losers.
For “Work” is truly a 4 letter word.
***
I have a vagina.
I have balls.
My skin is Black
My skin is brown.
My great grandmother was a said to be a native.
Cause I care..
One has to reflect on the sheer level of desperation in these children.
Clinging to accidents of birth and ancestor worship because they have nothing else.
Desperate to have other beings see them and acknowledge their existence, they Demand validation..
Sadder than virtue signalling.
Such are the consequences of instant gratification..
Actual skill, good practises and mature relationships grow over time..
“Respect muh authority” only grows resentment.
We are partly to blame,a kind word never costs us as much as we think.
“No” is often an act of kindness.
Kindness not understood by the gimmee gats and so we duck our heads and slide on by,for they are not my children and seldom my problem..
Until we elect them to “govern”.those who can not govern themselves.
If it “takes a village”
Is it time to nuke that village?
When we have someone like her in such a position, they get suspended or put on leave. One thing that is never a part of the story is that the remaining staff are scrambling to make up for the loss of an important member.
If I didn’t show up for work one day, that’s eight hours of labour that has to be taken up by the rest of the workforce.
Did she actually do anything?
I see no mention of her performance or indispensable contributions over the years that she had been there. It’s all about her heritage, which presumably is the only qualification for the job.
For some reason my comment is being held for moderation. I merely said that, being skin deep, there is much less difference between a person of color and a pale face than between a man and a woman and yet that pretense is encouraged.
Aren’t all Metis pretty much self identified? After all the king shit Metis, Louis Riel was 1/16 Indian. I had at least two clients who were Metis. One had red hair. The other looked vaguely like he had Indian ancestors but his Metis kids were blond. There is a good liklihood that someone with a French name in Canada has Indian ancestry.
Oops – her last name was Weibel. German or Jewish, likely German..
I have a relative who actually is 1/4 native. I’ve met her mother and grandmother so I know she is. She is fair skinned, blonde hair and blue eyes.
I have another relative who is 1/3 native. He has swarthy skin, black hair (OK, it’s grey now) and brown eyes.
One of my wife’s relatives had red hair, pale skin and blue eyes, her parents were immigrants from Russia. Yet she somehow managed to get a status card.
You can’t always go by appearance. And the wish for victimhood and benefits is strong these days.
Will there be an effort to recover the “Unjust Enrichment” that she received as a result of her alleged fraud, or will it be another “sweep it under the rug and forget it ever happened” like the plagiarist Spence?
If race is a social construct, well, let her keep her job then.
Sit back and watch the gong show, ladies and gentlemen.
Oh no! Only gender is a social construct. Didn’t you get a program?
Allow anyone who does the sun dance to claim native heritage.
I’ve got 3 dead cars in my yard and I drink the odd beer. Do I qualify?
Will a scum dance do? Asking for a friend.
This situation reminds me of cases where people falsely claim academic credentials that they didn’t have. They got away with it because nobody bothered to check but, eventually, something misfires and the edifices of lies that they constructed come crashing down.
We had someone like that at Armpit College 30 years ago. Eventually, the long arm of the law caught up with her and she took up residency in the crowbar hotel.
Similarly, an engineering professor at a certain Canadian university was eventually found out some 20 years ago and her career, based on falsehoods, flamed out, crashed, and burned.
