Emergency meeting of the Ottawa Police Services board. ” This is madness.”

* I’d also like to highlight the meltdown of councilor Carol Anne Meehan at the 1:23:13 mark. It is fun to watch her body language and facial expressions throughout the meeting but I know that not everybody has the time to watch the whole thing.

I’m only about 20 minutes in and its both fascinating and hilarious. The police chief has a very different demeanor than he did yesterday. He doesn’t have the manpower to deal with this and he knows it. City council on the other hand seems to remain clueless no matter how many times he explains this.

-The people they do have are overworked and burned out. I’d include the chief in that as well. How many more days before we see cops walk off the job?

-Intelligence officer didn’t think that many would stay. What kind of intelligence gathering outfit doesn’t listen to what the protestors say they are going to do?

-Doesn’t sound like they’ve been able to come up with much more than a few minor things in the way of charges and arrests.

-There is no policing answer, there is no legal answer.

– City councilors calling the truckers “terrorists” is not going to be helpful. Call it a hunch.

-They’ve got another 257 RCMP coming in to help. Doesn’t sound like anywhere close to enough given what the chief has said.

-In the entire two hour ordeal not a single person was willing or able to state the underlying issues of why the protest is happening. Looks like eight days of honking was not enough.

-God help anyone that has to do these zoom calls on a regular basis. They’re going to have all sorts of mental issues at some point.

All of her complaints are the same as what the protesters have listed as the reasons for the protest.

Her complaints are based on how her world has been violated and the protesters are basing their complaints on the how the entire country has been violated.
