Update: Video captured the moments before the “accident”

When a few ducks or geese land on a tailings pond in northern Alberta, how much is the typical fine?
When this kid drives on thin river ice, and the gas tank leaks into the river, how much is the fine?
I think this is Middle Eastern, non-polluting fuel so no environmental fine.
All true but the only real issue is was she FULLY VACCINATED!!!!!!!!!!!
This happened in Manotick, once a pretty village on the Rideau Canal that grew around the Watson flour mill, now a museum.
Manotick today is a bedroom community for Ottawa lifers who can’t afford to live in Rockcliffe Park or the Glebe. (White flight is just peachy when Libranos do it.)
Even money says that car was the little snowflake’s “holiday” present, for which Daddy doubtless paid a king’s ransom out of the generous salary he gets from the Canadian taxpayer, at least one of whom could surely have used reliable transport to an honest job.
What? The fudge?
Her ex-boyfriend’s car…
Here in Edmonton, I’ve noticed that a lot of people don’t know how to drive in winter.
For example, the other day I saw a Beemer trying to get out of a snow rut after being parked on the street. One reason the driver was having problems getting out was that he didn’t keep his front wheels straight. Rocking the car back and forth to get out of that rut was an idea that didn’t occur to him, either.
That same day, the apartment complex parkade I use was being cleared of snow. I park both my car and my truck on the upper deck, so I have to drive up a ramp from street level to get to my stalls.
My VW Golf is front-wheel drive and, though that ramp was a bit slippery, I managed to get to the top, though I had to step on the gas a bit harder. The kid who parks on one side of me drives a mini-van, also with front-wheel drive, but she started spinning her wheels about halfway up and gave up after one try, at least while I was outside.
The way the kid was driving in that video, she was asking for trouble….. and got it.
My experience growing up in the frozen north (St. Paul) was that almost every time I got stuck in the snow it was because I did something stupid. Getting out of being stuck is mostly about patience, although it helps to keep one’s wheels straight.
And while front wheel drive cars are way better in the snow than rear wheel drive ones, I miss being able to do donuts. I suppose ai could do them while backing up….
Ice fishing with ALL the bait.
Insufficient childhood corporal punishment.
Someone caught her on video joy riding down the Rideau canal. She hit some thin ice and this was the result. Her insurance company is going to ding her for that.
The idiot probably is not getting a cent. Insurance does not cover off road use anymore than it covers you torching your car for fun. She’d be wise not making a claim.
She’ll get many thousand social media “likes.”
Today’s equivalent of a participation trophy. This will flood her brain with endorphins and she will feel wonderful.
Until the fines and bills arrive.
My Scottish grandmother was tough. Her attitude towards idiots like this was “perhaps they will die and will not pass on their stupid genes!”
Stupidity should be painful and expensive.
Local residents risked their own lives to rescue her.
Police and fire services called out at large cost to the taxpayer.
The driver has been charged with dangerous driving.
There is also a short video of her racing along the frozen river in her yellow car.
No word, though, on whether she will be forced to pay for having her car removed from the river.
The video also showed children playing on the ice.
Not to be alarmist or anything but imagine if her little vehicle had swerved into them.
Would that be selfie worthy?
Yes.
The girl gets her media “likes” and views and her warped ego/self-worth jumps into the stratosphere.
Whoever filmed the video would get rich as the world’s so-called media would endlessly re-run it (with the obligatory freeze-frame just before the kids’ bodies go flying into the air).
Welcome to the 2020s.
That picture is a perfect metaphor for Western Civilization.
