Oddments For The Weekend

Including a suboptimal situation; the laughing death epidemic of Papua New Guinea; some accidentally gigantic spiders; a guide to the biggest black holes; and the biodegradable shoes you’ve always wanted.

All this and more.

  1. The clip of the dog and the chair (smart dog!) reminds me of something personal.

Whenever my late father was ready to eat at the table, my canine step-brother would always jump on his chair and check and see what was being served. My father would rebuke him with a strong “No!”

The little guy carried on with that habit after my father died and I would always shoo him off the chair as I didn’t want him to get any ideas. Even though much of his wilder behaviour has been trained out of him by the family that adopted him, he still pulls that stunt from time to time whenever he visits me at the house I inherited.

Mind you, he still gives me the “I’m a poor hungry dog” look whenever I’m eating. I find it hard to resist that.

    1.  My doggo ate my dinner when I turned my back to get a beverage once, It took all of 2 seconds.

Here’s a cute video of a dog raiding a toaster oven:
