It also doesn’t help that the recommended tests don’t give the person being tested any of the kinds of useful information the Dr here is talking about. We’ve been flying blind right from the start and we still are.
And… where have we seen this before?
My whole family was sick in April, and all recovered quickly except for Mama, who’s in her late 50s and has a number of risk factors. We didn’t register our health status with the government when we were sick, but did the responsible thing and stayed isolated at home. By the time it became necessary to hospitalize Mama, the rest of the family was without symptoms for 8 to 14 days. Then public health got ahold of us. My SIL was subject to three different isolation orders, starting several days after Mama was hospitalized. I was ordered to isolate for 26 days, with no rationale provided, although public health later lied and denied this was the case and rescinded the order the next day. A week and a half later when they decided to issue a separate isolation order for my breast-fed grandson, we told them to go pound sand. The last contact we had with them was a couple of weeks ago, when I found a person in my driveway who refused to identify herself or her business when asked three times. When she finally identified herself as a public health inspector, I told her I don’t speak to fascists. I left her in my driveway screaming at me to identify myself to her. I have never seen a more incompetent and authoritarian bunch of government bureaucrats as public health, and I have seen a lot of bureaucrats in my working lifetime.
I was sick with Covid symptoms in April and didn’t bother to go get tested. My rationale was 1) what was a test going to tell me that I didn’t already suspect to be true, 2) given the high probability of a false positive result if it wasn’t Covid, the test outcome was a given anyway, and 3) they weren’t going to be offering any sort of treatment, just an edict to go home and isolate and that came with a likelihood of my being subjected to unnecessary and unwanted scrutiny. In other words, the test offered zero benefit to me so I didn’t bother.
My husband and I both had what appeared to be cold symptoms this spring. We certainly didn’t get tested, but er had laid in a supply of HCQ somewhat earlier And took that for five days as a precaution. I don’t know that we actually had Covid, but whatever it was, it didn’t last long. It may have even Bern allergies. (I used to get at least six colds a year, plus the flu. All my life, year after year. After building up my immune system with glutathione, then high-dose Vit. D, K2 and magnesium, I hadn’t had anything close to that for more than a year.
Getting tested means your name gets entered into the grinding machine. Lots of bored bureaucrats looking for something to do. They might decide to do it to -you-. Therefore best not to get tested, IMHO. What they don’t know can’t hurt you.

I’ll never willingly submit to a covid test. I had symptoms around the time it was first showing up in Canada and once since, but I cannot afford to sit in my home for two weeks quarantining. The small business I work for which only employees three of us including the owner also could not survive if more than one of us ever had covid at once and were forced to quarantine.
The vast majority of people I know also won’t submit to tests.
As a small business owner myself, I never got tested but I’m sure I got Covid. Back in March of 2020, my husband went to urgent care as he hurt his shoulder after falling off his bike and they wouldn’t even look at him at Urgent Care. As an American, I think Canadians are so brainwashed thinking their socialized medicine is so superior to the US system.
Why get tested if they are not offering any treatments. Just stay home if you are sick. It’s also probably too late to worry about spreading to family members, and we have heard that asymptomatic transmission is not an issue. So with those showing up in hospital not having been tested, what difference would testing have made?
Really not sure how this is an issue. All patients that come into the hospital, at least around here, with any covid symptoms are already treated as covid positive until proven otherwise.

Yes, avoid testing like the plague (heh,heh), as it is the main tool now used to control and scare people into destroying our lives. Avoid becoming a “case”. Even a no may be counted, I think. A positive was reversed to negative in two DAYS for a relative! No reliable/valid test works like this!

THE PCR is an unreliable and not very valid test! It should only be used for people with real symptoms who are ill and interpreted by medical doctors, not used under government decree at airports in gulag hotels (btw.,,, who is earning $$$ off the hotel scheme?).

My son-in-law and my daughter both got sick at the same time. They weren’t that sick but they did stay at home and rest in bed cuddling together, and well, like I said they weren’t that sick. They both got tested. He was positive, she was negative. (?????) She was told to self isolate from him. She didn’t isolate from her husband since she figured she was already as fully exposed as it was possible to be given their activity the night before the test. They were both fine after a couple of days. He had to continue self isolation at home for fourteen days. She left for an out of province job 48 hours after her negative test with the blessing of the health department because she had tested negative and was therefore not a concern. She wanted to stay home with her husband but her employer would not let her since the health department gave her the all clear to travel. They have since changed that rule. These people don’t know what they are doing.

BTW note that most of the issues with shortages of health care workers derive from the mandatory 7-14 day quarantine at home after possible exposure. One of my sons is an aide in the COVID ward in Winnipeg and he has been exposed at work and required to stay home and self isolate a total of eight times during this pandemic. Originally it was 14 days and then it became 7 days plus a negative PCR test. (Often that becomes 9-12 days due to the time it takes to get the test back.) He reports that typically when exposure happens entire shifts of staff have to stay home and self isolate. He also had to stay home and isolate three times because one of his kids had the sniffles and he had to wait until they got a PCR test result back, each time, negative but taking 1-3 days for the result.
A lot of CD-19 symptoms mimic other hospitalization-worthy illnesses. One of them is Ketoacidosis, most commonly brought on by serious dehydration, diabetes, or alcohol abuse.
Or maybe there is still the fear of going to the hospital because of CD-19 so people wait until they’re really in trouble.
And just because you got tested yesterday and it was negative doesn’t mean you can’t pick it up before the results come back.
Someone should tell the idipt VP that hospitalizations would be significantly lower if they treated people the moment
they tested positive.

Why would I want to get tested? If you test positive you automatically have to quarantine for two weeks, along with everyone you know. It could easily be a false positive. So everyone is penalized for nothing. If you really do have the disease, they do not treat you anyways, until you are so sick that hospital is a necessity. There is no upside for the individual. If I think I have Covid the sensible thing to do is to lie low, keep away from others

Iast time time I was sick enough to not be capable of working was 2004 – 4 days bedridden with a very severe chest infection…but still, just the flu ffs…nothing more. Tylenol cold and home made chicken soup..worked wonders. Since that time, Righteous implementation of Vitamins D, B1, B12, C w/zinc and to date have had maybe 4 or 5 minor colds.
I see Zero reason to go get tested by an utterly flawed PCR test, nor see ANY requirement for some faux garbage that is, seemingly more deadly than the 2 bit virus it’s supposedly reducing your symptoms of.
