If you find yourself stuck in line waiting for your Covid vaccine like some Soviet peasant trying to buy bread, this news item provides a clue as to why this is happening.
The answer, however, is not as simple as there being “…no plans to share America’s COVID-19 vaccines with Canada or Mexico.” Sharing, in this context, means disallowing price signals for consumers and mandating taxpayer funding of state-run distribution systems. This model, unfortunately, appears to have been widely adopted.
In a world in which markets routinely deliver billions of goods and services, including pharmaceuticals (and vaccines) in a timely manner at reasonable cost, there’s no plausible reason to treat Covid vaccines any differently. But once you render for-profit sale illegal, the Soviet model of “sharing” becomes the only option.
It’s possible that Mr. Sunny Ways might be privately upset with BFF Biden, but that’s mainly because he and most other political leaders in this country don’t have a clue as to how markets work or how they could overcome this problem by allowing them to work.
When your frame of reference is central planning and you want an item for which price signals are prohibited, the only alternative is to beg or battle it out with the other central planners for the possession of meager resources. In that battle, Canadian central planners would be bringing a knife to a gun fight, which may be why “…Prime Minister Justin Trudeau reportedly stopped short of making a…request [for vaccines] in his virtual meetings with Biden last week.”
Any Canadian of sufficient moral and intellectual disposition accepting our monopoly soviet health care system as beneficial deserves the disappointment in and placement in the waiting list to receive vaccines made available by profit-seeking firms necessarily relegated to off-shore locations. Call it the Tommy Douglas tax on ignorance, resentment and envy.

One of my relatives had it, too. But he was among the most vulnerable group. He just turned 70, he’s an invalid in a care home, and the staff aren’t the sharpest knives in the drawer.
So why should I be expected to get that gunk injected into me when I have a lower probability of getting it?
Everyone that I know that has had the wuhan flu has survived. There have been a range of symptoms: only a headache for some, sniffles and aches for others , and high fever and terrible cough for the oldest one …79 yrs, cancer, on chemo. He survived.
But in the last 5 months I have lost many friends that have succombed to cancer, kidney failure, and heart problems. None from covid. Also, notice the obits?…people are dying daily…not from covid.

My surgery was during a period of an “outbreak”, upstairs. I take immunotherapy for cancer, so I’m high risk. I liken the ChiCom Virus vaccine production and deployment to the government Student Loan program. I think the more interesting issue with these vaccines, both the mRNA and the adenovirus-carrier type is that they are very narrowing focussed on the spike protein. They do not induce a broad immune response. The virus therefore only has to mutate the spike protein to avoid our vaccinated immune system. Far better to get the disease and survive and generate a natural response.
