The Calgary airport authority today said passenger traffic is down 95% this year. Cargo traffic is up 17% (go Amazon).
Bottom line is they are broke and want money. Lots of money. Every airport in the country is in the same position. The Bong is going to have to print a lot more cash. By the time they get around to a budget next spring there will be another 350 billion or more spent.
The present Government needs to do what past leaders like Margaret Thatcher or Jean Chretien did to get the economy going again, otherwise we are doomed. Well, no. You clearly didn’t read the article. What’s happening here is Lady Antebellum filed trademarks for the mark “Lady A” back in 2010 and nobody contested that. That’s significant. They’re not suing the current singer “Lady A” for anything; they’re seeking a legal judgment that their use of the trademark “Lady A” does not infringe on her trademark rights to that name.
They’re not trying to shut down the existing singer, but they do want to avoid paying her license fees or royalties, clearly, or they wouldn’t be filing suit. Reading between the lines, I suspect the existing “Lady A” demanded ridiculous/exorbitant licensing terms.
The reason it’s not an open-and-shut case is that the existing “Lady A” didn’t defend her trademark back in 2010. If you don’t defend your trademark you can lose it. There’s a counter-argument that Lady Antebellum didn’t do adequate due diligence, but if the existing “Lady A” never formally registered the trademark the judge is going to have to sort it out.

I’ve been getting a ton of ads for Derek Sloane for CPC leader lately. He’s running on what amounts to the PPC platform plus some social conservatism, which amused me. Anybody seen anything about this guy? He seems to have come out of nowhere, and apparently the existing CPC old guard is trying to force him out.
It was said that Derek Sloane won the Conservative debates. I haven’t seen any of them, though.
He actually speaks to the issues – the only one of the PC leadership candidates who does so. He says he’ll pull us out of Paris & Kyoto, cancel Li’l Pot’s gun grab and carbon tax, show a buncha’ illegals the door, get-on with pipelines and several other good sounding things – unlike the others, who only seem able to say “Vote ME – NOT him.”
If you want to hear more from him (or any of them, actually), all you have to do is make the mistake of contributing to his campaign; I’m getting a couple of e-mails a day from him at the moment. Irritating, but to be honest I’ve got no use for any of the others. Well, no. You clearly didn’t read the article. What’s happening here is Lady Antebellum filed trademarks for the mark “Lady A” back in 2010 and nobody contested that. That’s significant. They’re not suing the current singer “Lady A” for anything; they’re seeking a legal judgment that their use of the trademark “Lady A” does not infringe on her trademark rights to that name.
They’re not trying to shut down the existing singer, but they do want to avoid paying her license fees or royalties, clearly, or they wouldn’t be filing suit. Reading between the lines, I suspect the existing “Lady A” demanded ridiculous/exorbitant licensing terms.
The reason it’s not an open-and-shut case is that the existing “Lady A” didn’t defend her trademark back in 2010. If you don’t defend your trademark you can lose it. There’s a counter-argument that Lady Antebellum didn’t do adequate due diligence, but if the existing “Lady A” never formally registered the trademark the judge is going to have to sort it out.

I’ve been getting a ton of ads for Derek Sloane for CPC leader lately. He’s running on what amounts to the PPC platform plus some social conservatism, which amused me. Anybody seen anything about this guy? He seems to have come out of nowhere, and apparently the existing CPC old guard is trying to force him out.
It was said that Derek Sloane won the Conservative debates. I haven’t seen any of them, though.
He actually speaks to the issues – the only one of the PC leadership candidates who does so. He says he’ll pull us out of Paris & Kyoto, cancel Li’l Pot’s gun grab and carbon tax, show a buncha’ illegals the door, get-on with pipelines and several other good sounding things – unlike the others, who only seem able to say “Vote ME – NOT him.”
If you want to hear more from him (or any of them, actually), all you have to do is make the mistake of contributing to his campaign; I’m getting a couple of e-mails a day from him at the moment. Irritating, but to be honest I’ve got no use for any of the others. The mark of a man (or woman – not sexist here) smart enough to run Canada is that he won’t toss his hat in the ring in the first place.
