Is Our Diversities Learing?

His president’s salary a tidy $601,684 in 2025, he was the highest paid in Ontario;

When John Tibbits abruptly resigned as president of Conestoga College on Jan. 14, he walked away with an exit package worth more than $3 million.

Details of that exit package have been kept secret from the public — even members of the board who voted to grant it to him. […]

Between 2019 and 2024, Tibbits guided Conestoga on a massive expansion of their international student program. They went from 13,000 international students in 2019 to more than 38,000 international students by the end of 2023.

Conestoga wasn’t just the school with the most international students in Ontario, according to federal records — they were the school with the most international students in all of Canada. With international students paying significantly more in tuition, Conestoga was able to rack up a surplus in the 2023-24 fiscal year of more than $250 million.

The Ford government has fired the board and installed an administrator. Curious.

  1. The subtext is that Conestoga wasn’t the only one playing, it was just the one that pushed the limit.
Every institution public and private were playing this scam.
    Every damn one.
    Likewise
Fire them all, every damn one of them.

  2. Why don’t we just sponsor colleges in the shithole world. We bring the profs and most of the students from the shithole world and teach them a retard level college program so the students can work at Tim Hortons, immigrate to the real world or, pretending they have a real education, get a real job in the shithole world. Who does his benefit? At least one person for $3 million. The students? Not so much.

    1. To Liberals this shows how schmartz they are, how successful! It’s education!

  3. I sit on a couple of boards. The first question I’d have is who on earth is telling board members they have to vote and they have to vote right now on anything? The board members are the ones who are supposed to have ultimate control over the organization. And second, if I didn’t know the full details of what I was being asked to vote on, my vote would be unequivocally, “No”.

    1. There’s more to the story. Board members were using funds for luxury meals, some went on a trip to Italy, first class all the way. Seems like they were all in on it.

    2. DrD,
I have been a member few company boards around the world and I have never ever been asked to vote on something I am not allowed to see. This would be completely insane (and completely unethical).
That the chairman demanded this from the board member should be (or perhaps already is) criminal.
And the idiot board members who actually voted on this without loudly and openly objecting, should be forced to repay all their board remunerations and never be allowed to sit on any board anywhere ever again.

  4. “Board chair Martha George demanded that the board vote in favour of the exit package, claiming it could not be shared with them for legal and privacy reasons. Not every board member voted for the exit package, but enough did for it to pass.”

Translation: a majority of the board members felt compromised.

But don’t worry, I’m sure blubber douggie will leave no stone unturned.

  5. Well, quite a few people benefited downstream from the deluge of students at Conestoga. Landlords had plenty of eager tenants, companies had access to cheap labor to exploit, and, social services had a flood of ‘our most vulnerable’ to justify staff, facilities, and, programs. Instructors had job security. You can use your imagination to construct the picture. Many people were in on the gravy train of this woke plantation.

I would not expect any sort of consequences. Too many people have benefited from the plantation. Benefits were concentrated at the top, and these ‘boomers’ are secure in retirements, profits from sold businesses and properties.

The generation of settler colonialists who were pushed away from prosperity (access to meaningful skills training, employment; smearing of reputation and culture) have adapted to the double standard, sloped playing field, and the reality of not saying what you think. They do not speak, but they do act. Hard to figure out what they are doing in response, but it is a good study in Darwinian adaption.

  6. One college president, at one unknown college, has the POWER in Canada to replace the nation’s population. One man … using profitability as the carrot … gives the entire nation the stick of incompatible foreigners flooding into Canada. Let that sink in. Because those foreign students aren’t ever going away. They’re here to stay.

  7. Ripping off Canadians AND Foreigners.

    Shithole Verification #78.

In a just would the board would be flogged and Tibbits hanged, drawn and quartered.

  8. L – It would only be fair, if the outgoing college President’s bonus be $3 million Rupees.
