    1. Hey, don’t knock science – my stats and dsci team crunched the data and did comparisons of SARS-Cov2 with the flu pandemics in ’57, ’68-69 and ’81.

      None of us bought masks after we saw the raw numbers. You’d think our health authorities could be bothered to review any of what we gave ’em? Not a chance.

      We validated their models though. And they were pretty piss poor. Shockingly bad standards of coding and data management.

      We’re going after the climate models next. Once we’re done tweaking our algo trading models. I love being a stats guy at times like these.

      2. Thats what my numbers said ..right from the start. But the politicians panicked and hid behind the skirts of our CMO. Now they have to figure out how to get things going again without having to admit what a horrible mistake they made.

        On a secondary note, I think one of the main reasons why Calgary had more cases than Edmonton is the extensive C-Train Network that was used continuously up in till the peak of the pandemic oops sorry panic.

          The system is running at 50% and typically EMPTY. As are the Buses.

          This whole pile of overblown BULLSHIT can be laid at the feet of GOVT on all. levels and their complete and TOTAL incompetence and in more than a few cases, abject treasonous behaviour. THAM – Hadju – Trudeau etc.

          1. Actually, cash would be a great way to pay now….it would help hard hit businesses avoid taxes. If I were running a small business now, I would want cash and I would cheat like hell on my taxes. It is government that caused the problem and I’ll be damned if I’m going to give them more money given their incompetence.

        3. Don’t think it was the C-Train….Calgary had more cases because of the air traffic into the city. Calgary has at least twice the number of international passengers as Edmonton. The Calgary buses and C-Train were used, but very sparingly….in fact, the city should have laid off transit staff two months ago. You often would see C-Trains completely empty as well as those large articulating buses running around the city with 2 people on them.

          1. Agree with the air traffic issue. However I think the train facilitated the spread to all corners of the city in late February and March before business sent people home. Very similar to NYC.

  4. I doubt any of the government run enterprises will be adversely affected by the government edicts, unlike small business owners and the like.

    GO transit is still running trains on a standard schedule from early morning until after 1 am, and the trains are for the most part, empty after a certain point. Someone should be asking how much money could be saved by giving the 1 or 2 train passengers a drive home via uber over running a train from union station to pickering.

    To cure a pandemic all you need to do is burn riot.
    Who knew that beating on strangers,burning their homes and businesses and killing 5 decent Black citizens would stop the Chinese contagon in its tracks.

    Herd immunity increases with greater numbers, as can be seen in the Serengeti plains, a larger herd means less chance of any individual member getting captured.
