DO TELL:A new study argues that city subways and buses were a “major disseminator” of the coronavirus in the Big Apple.

What do most urban areas have in common?
1. High population density.
2. Mass transit systems,
And then,
3. Higher Chinese Coronavirus infection rates.
New Minneapolis MTC Bus rules. Only 10 passengers per bus, 15 for the big articulated buses.
Don’t forget the trendy 700 sq.ft. apt. How is that working out.
Don’t forget #4. … Higher concentration of Chinese immigrants. Both variety: legal and illegal
I sure am glad they spend money to verify the most obvious facts, that anyone with an IQ above room temperature, in the Farenhiet scale, should be able to understand. Population density is something that would affect the spread of an infectious disease. There, now where do I pick up my PHD?
Who’d a thunk it? The same thing applies to the common cold and any other virus.
Another observation is that “Diversity, was not a strength”.
It’ll take them awhile to figure that one out, if at all. Sort of like Open Borders and wearing N95 masks.
The hired on basis of genitalia incompetence at a federal level could be summed up as mass death by diversity.
I use to call the Skytrains and the C-Trains the trains of plaque years ago already. The poles and handles were all slimy and the trains were packed full. Cattle cars …. Awful
Prior to the lockdown, Translink admitted to only cleaning surfaces on buses and trains once a month!
I’ll do you one better. We were stuck in Montreal for several weeks last month. One of the news items was how often the transit system was sanitized. The buses were sanitized once every 43 days. The Metro and commuter trains were done more often although I forget the schedule.
Taiwan is a tiny state with transit systems – their infection rate is insignificant and only 6 deaths according to https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus. What made the difference? Masks, frequent testing and isolation of the sick and vulnerable. Why are our leaders unable or unwilling to learn from another country’s success?
Fill your elected representatives’ inbox to stop this lockdown that is destroying our economy and the soul of our nations.
And Taiwan continues to use those systems, according to footage I have seen. The trains are full, not packed, and every individual wears a mask.
It would take public beatings to make every entitled @$$h0le in Moronto wear a mask on the TTC. By which I mean no mask = instant beating.
You’ve seen the video of the guy spitting on the elevator buttons? There’s many of that guy. That’s why I don’t live in Moronto anymore. Too many of that guy. They come in all sizes shapes and races too.
I haven’t flown for 10 years probably. One of many reasons is that I dont like being locked in a tube with a bunch of germ factories. Probably worse than a school full of kids.
Be interesting to see if this leads to the demise of white elephant projects like Edmonton train project thingy. Wastes of my money.
Now I’m gonna jump in my highly inefficient car and burn up some of this cheap gas!
The whole suburban house model is looking pretty good right now, isn’t it? Separation between families, room to grow your own food at need, car to get around in and room to fix it if you need to, capability to isolate sick family member if you have to. Everything that’s necessary in a pandemic.
see how this works…..packing everyone in like sardines in a can….but it’s still our fault
““It’s certainly not solely related to the subway system. It’s because of our own behaviors and when these other measures went into place.””
This required a “study” to figure out….??
WOW..We are truly in deep shit if that is indeed the case.
By March 03 after I got released (hosp & not the pshych ward either…lol), I saw empty C-Trains & Buses running…I think most here in Calgary figured that out in a heartbeat.
NYC, not so much.
And what’s worse!? Every head of mass transit agencies calling the study “flawed” and “biased”. Bad behavior always has numerous advocates.
Mass transit surely contributes…. But, I guarantee, it is nothing compared to elevators. Just about every multi-story building in NY has elevators (commercial and residential). The air circulation in most is horrible. Those with air circulation have filters that haven’t been cleaned out…well, probably ever. You are, by design, shoulder to shoulder with other occupants, and the virus remains in the undisturbed air after people leave. Also, elevators are inside…no air currents like there are outside. Even if you stay in one place within an elevator, the floating contents of that elevator do not. The car moves, the air within the elevator moves with it.
Take the stairs? Up 35 floors for the wealthiest of companies … since the higher floors pay premium rents.
Mass Transit … elevators … double whammy. And 6ft social distancing? Hahahaha ha ha … in NYC!?
Mass transit, elevators, population density … all the things you are scolded are “green” (as opposed to the NATURAL social distancing of suburbia) … are very, very, baaaaad mmmkay for Virus pandemic spread
Good old sanitation costs money.
In Ottawa, the capital of the nation, trying to find a public washroom is like trying to find an honest politician.
There is one on parliament hill. That’s all I know of.
Reasons? One: Cost. The city is too busy spending money on social engineering, queer parades and making the roads more narrow.
Think you can wash your hands anywhere? Pfft. You’d need the Hubble telescope just to find a water fountain – one of the things I loved about Rome.
People have to rely on malls and gas stations and McDonalds’s or Tim Horton’s to drop a deuce.
Its an absolute disgrace that a ‘modern’ city has ignored basic human function let alone proper sanitation.
YTF would they clean a handhold on a dirty bus?
