  11. The tragedy here is that WHO actually has an important mandate. It’s one of the very few ways that a global response to a global pestilence like SARS, H1N1, Covid-19 can be coordinated. Its mandate IS to be an expert organization in the global spread of infectious diseases. But the issue quite rightly as everyone else points out is that a necessary mandate is no defense against the rampant corruption that runs seething throughout the entire UN organization. And because of that corruption it has failed so very very badly with respect to C-19.

    1. The first responsibility falls to the leader of the country. In our case Trudeau. When advised by Military Intel that this was going to be a huge problem. He should have acted immediately to close borders to all people coming from hot zones. Instead he went with failed organizations like the UN. And did as China told him to do, not what was prudent or using precautionary principles of do no harm. He failed in his duty to protect Canadian Lives. And needs to be held Criminally Responsible. He can and should be put on trial.
      A CEO or President of a company who allows or by his negligence causes the death of an employee is charged with Criminal Negligence Causing Death. Why is Trudeau exempt from the Criminal Code should be the only question.

        But you are evading the main point that WHO has an important mandate. Note the key word I used ” coordinate”. WHO needs to be reformed.

        Your talk about “Criminal Responsible” is just blather. You have to get him out of office first. HOW? He’s already demonstrated that he and his minions have no respect for the basic administration of criminal law.

    2. WHO is, at best, an apathetic hyper bureaucracy of the UN. It must be replaced by a group of coordinating western nations in order to early identify pandemics, and provide mutual assistance. to treat new pandemics. A sort of NATO, except exclusively devoted towards health cooperation, and exclusively consisting of civilized nations. If Trudeau had any brains he could make a mark by pushing for just such an organization outside of the UN. But he seems to prefer the corrupt old UN. I wonder why?

  12. The problem with the UN is the same one they had with the League of Nations.
    The intent was to be an arbitration body, but the membership treated it like a government, which it could never be.
    The member states continue to abuse the mandate to advance a world government fashioned to their preferred model and the rest just want to be part of the administration that gets to spend the global taxes.

      Can you sight a case where any such organization, having been so corrupt for so long has been rehabilitated? If Trump were to order the military to surround the un building and let no one out until they had been cleared of corruption I would support his decision. Anyone care to give odds on that happening?

  14. While I’m not a fan of the CBC, occasionally they do something interesting (usually the radio section). This morning on The Current, Matt Galloway interviewed Ian Burrough (I think I spelled his name correctly) who has chronicled the failures of the WHO over the years – and especially now. In addition to being a toady to the Chinese Communist Party, they have also botched responses to AIDS/HIV, Ebola, etc. It’s well worth a listen.

    After the Westray Mine fiasco,the federal Government rammed through bill C45,which resulted in regulations that essentially criminalize being an employer.
    Now the Prime Moistener is technically the “employer of all the experts currently giving us conflicting and useless advice.
    People are dying.
    So does he get the maximum penalty?

    As for the WHO,the UN and all these Institutes of Do-Good,they were captured, killed and their skins worn as cloaks decades ago.
    Our entitled to their entitlements occupied these institutes when no one cared and turned them into lifetime troughs.
    Useless,toothless parasitic organizations..Which cost taxpayers lots and pay real nice salaries and perks.
    Other that providing gilded cages for evil parasites,they provide no recognizable benefit to we who pay for them.

  20. The WHO was too deferential to China, but otherwise they actually did a pretty good job. If countries around the world had followed the advice they were giving in January instead of pretending that it was all a China problem, we’d be a lot better off.

    1. The WHO praised China in January and repeated their talking points throughout that month. Canada “followed” WHO’s advice to a tee in January, and look where that got us. What exactly did WHO do in January that can be considered “a pretty good job?”

      Was it WHO’s January statement on “no clear evidence of human-to-human transmission”, or “WHO advises against the application of any restrictions of international traffic”, or its praise “China deserves gratitude and respect”? Please enlighten us.
