      1. It is a freaking flu, now if anyone has a compromised immune system or are quite old, as am I, then maybe you might die. But lets let the conspiracy theories run wild. Locking everyone up will not alter the death toll, as it will run it’s course, if it is not a BIOLOGICAL WEAPON! Woops, conspiracy again.

And I don’t care what level of Govt we are talking about. From where I sit all 3 levels are beyond useless..succeeding only to piss away Millions upon Millions.

    1. No CDC in Japan? Why? Why do they need one? Their culture and people are pure. They aren’t overrun with third-world basketcases. Their culture is clean. Bathing is ritual. Cleanliness is part of their DNA.

      Of course Japan should have a CDC in the contemporary world … but they are a somewhat isolated Island nation. As the multiculti-cult begins to infect their nation .. LOOK OUT!!

  3. There is no stopping this disease. It is too widespread. Tens of millions will die before society gains an immunity. They got on SARS early. Everyone seems to have gotten a lot stupider in the intervening years. Our biggest worry was the human rights of Chinese people who want to cough in our faces and not controlling the spread of the disease.

      1. I am a fan of local history books and the 1918/1919 flu that killed more people than WWI brutalized the pioneer communities in Alberta. 1% is 70 million. The 1918 flu killed more than 1% of rural Alberta. I guess you’re immune.

        1. I’m with you Scar. It won’t kill the majority of us but with a 2% mortality rate and 18% needing two to three weeks in an intensive care unit to recover, it’s not going to be the virus that is the worst effect. It’s going to be panic and overwhelming of our medical systems. Even the best and most advanced systems in the world are not ready to deal with 18% of the population suddenly needing a bed in an intensive care unit. Plus we have to worry about how to deliver groceries and keep the utilities working with so many sick. Might solve the blockade problem though.

  4. So I read the star article.
    The most interesting thing for me was the map. The map shows there are 0 reported cases on the entire Continent of Africa.
    What does that mean?
    I’m going to assume and someone correct me if I’m wrong, but my assumption is that they don’t have proper testing and monitoring in most of Africa.
    From that I will now speculate that when the virus hits Africa it will run unchecked and many people who leave there will be infectious.
    Basically Africa will become an origin location that will facilitate the spread of the virus across the world.

    Some one please point out the flaws in my assumptions.

      You mean…all those folks who get HIV…then AIDS…might not actually be getting HIV then dying of AIDS?

    1. More than one specialist has stated we will know when the virus is loose in the community when people start coming into hospital and dying. For every one that comes into hospital, four will have the virus and recover and the five people will each have infected two to three more in the meantime. Do that math.

  8. Now you know why the United States is barring any citizens that were on the Plague Princess from coming to the United States until March 4. They realize that they are all likely to be exposed and infected, just like the 621 people that have the “confirmed” infections.

    The US took every American that volunteered to fly into the US and go into Quarantine here in the US for two weeks. Hell, 14 of the 400 became ill in the day that it took them to be shipped to the US. Anyone that didn’t want to go into quarantine was not allowed to fly home.

    Now Japan just released the remaining 5,000 infected people into their nation?. WTF??? There will be an epidemic in Japan in March. It will start slow, maybe twenty people on March 1, a hundred in the next week, and almost ten thousand by April Fools Day.

    It is called exponential spread for a reason.

    Are they any brighter than our best and brightest?

    A cruise ship docks in Japan after an infected person gets off in Hong Kong. There is no one with symptoms of the disease when it arrives in Japan. By the time they are done, 621 people are sick. Then they just release the other 3,000 exposed people into the general public.

    Best and Brightest.

    But I bet their paperwork is all properly filled out and filed in alphabetical order.
