A few years back, I recall an appeal by China for the US to produce chickens, ship them to China for processing and then the processed chicken could then be returned to the stores in the US (and Canada, I assume), for sale. And at lower prices!
All I can say is check the labels. (Especially fish in the likes of Superstore.)
I don’t buy ANY foods that have been anywhere near China.

There is a Chinese food plant, dairy, baby food, whatever almost complete in Kingston Ontario. It is big and it is modern, looks like they have money to invest. I’m hoping that practice is confined to the mainland. It has been my practice to eat street food in both Hong Kong and Taiwan (among other Asian countries). I’m not concerned so much with Taiwan, but Hong Kong gives me pause. Really f**n gross.
