It’s the new union negotiation;

A Miami-based American Airlines aircraft mechanic was charged on Thursday with sabotage after he tampered with an aircraft’s navigation system.
 
Abdul-Majeed Marouf Ahmed Alani was frustrated with the slow pace of union negotiations with American Airlines, he told authorities. He is said to have glued foam inside a tube leading from outside the plane to its air data module, a component of the aircraft’s navigation system that gathers critical flight data including aircraft speed and pitch. The plane was then scheduled to take off as Flight 2834, which had 150 passengers on board, although the flight was cancelled when the sabotage resulted in an error alert.

    That’s a good one Abdul.

    1. There’s something wrong with protection for employees who should be fired for serious acts, especially ones that could endanger the lives of people, no excuses acceptable, this was a deliberate act.

    2. I suspect Abdul’s “work” is being closely monitored … more closely than other workers without a prayer rug in their locker. This gives me both a sense of comfort … and dread. Comfort knowing that Abdul is being closely watched. Dread … because fear of Islamophobia allows a likely jihadist to work on airliner maintenance. Politically correct Islamo-embracement has trumped MY safety. Our society is gambling with MY life … so we can “appear” welcoming to Islam. It’s the same thing SHE did at Benghazi. One of our airliners is going to have a similar ending … killing MORE than 5 souls.

      BTW … this is not the first I’ve heard of this story … but it is the FIRST I’ve heard of “the mechanics” name … and faith in the god of destruction.

      I would vastly prefer a life-widdout-‘payroll’ thing for the likes of this behaviour.
      leaves the possibility of mr foam getting in the news periodically as a reminder.
      I watch ‘Mayday’ and marvel at the tenacity of the investigators, and morn the loss of life.
      OTOH if, IF bullets are involved, I volunteer to pull the trigger or at least pay for the bullet.

      1. “… pay for the bullet”? I’ll buy a bayonet. It’ll cost more up front but it’s cheaper in the long run because it’s reusable. (And, save the planet.)

I’ll admit my knowledge here comes from watching plane crash documentaries, but i think that is the “peto” tube which measures outdoor conditions, and blockage has caused crashes when pilots are baffled when their systems send conflicting messages. Seems to me even this idiot would have learned that from being around airplanes.

    1. The pitot tube measures total (dynamic+static) air pressure. A separate static vent provides static pressure alone which is subtracted from the pitot pressure to give dynamic pressure, which in turn gives airspeed.

      This is a critical system for flight safety. The plane would have another pitot tube to provide redundancy, but standard operating procedures require all airspeed measuring equipment to be functioning before take-off (a pitot tube can get blocked in flight – ask me how I know – so there needs to be a backup)

  10. There was a time when labour unions were not above sabotage of factories whose owners insisted on using only cheap foreign labour.

    If today’s labour unions were actually on the side of north American workers and not globalist fronts, ICE would not need to be raiding chicken processing plants and construction sites. Machinery operated by illegal immigrants would be breaking down or blowing up daily.
