Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

Trump The Establishment
All I’ve got to say and this is totally off topic but Scheer’s makeup person needs to be FIRED yesterday if he wants any chance. Lipstick??? Eyeliner??? I mean we are up against Trudeau’s fake eyebrows here but geez.
Sadly, pol’s all use it. Otherwise they look featureless and washed-out on teevee, they look like they just might be sick. And then the LIE-berals would be trumpeting “he’s unwell, he’s too old, we need a VIBRANT leader with great hair!”
What he needs is some coaching. He actually does have a few issues of his own to hammer the government with, plus Sockpuppet has given him a whole lot more of them; but he doesn’t know how to do on-screen persona, and as his background is small-town, small-c conservative, he might actually think he’s projecting something the voters want. Which if it were really the case, the Liberals would be single-digit in the polls and Mister Potato would resign before the Election.
But the “faceless and insipid” he usually projects, isn’t cutting it. I wonder where we could find a drama teacher to show him how to be dynamic and forceful on-camera? I was going to suggest Sunny Ways, but I’d prefer if Scheer teaches him something, come October.
Y.K., you nailed it with Andrew Scheer. He truly does need coaching, since so far he has a poor on-camera presence. Added to that, his TV commercials so far are trite, and lack any real punch. The C’s election run so far is trying not to lose, with a poorly-run prevent defence, when in reality the C’s need to attack aggressively and try to win the election.
“What he (scheer) needs is some coaching. ”
Geez. Here I was thinking it was balls and backbone…..
I listened to the Establishment Republicans and supported the Iraq War.
I mistakenly believed the Establishment, including the Democrats that voted for the war actually wanted to win the wars. It took me ten years, but I finally realized no one in Washington DC really wanted to win any wars. They all wanted to “manage” the wars, with no decision or conclusion. And to use the wars for partisan political advantage. They were all afraid of using the actual ruthless tactics necessary to fight an Islamic insurgency. We finally found a way to defeat the Iraqi Islamic Jihadis by farming the fighting off to the secular Sunni Iraqis in the Anbar Awakening. They got paid to do the dirty work we wouldn’t, and broke the insurgency. It worked until Barack Obama and Slow Joe Biden pulled all the US Military out and the Shia Maliki Government shit on the Sunnis keeping their part of Iraq peaceful.
Maliki pissed off the Sunnis so much, they turned to the crazy Sunni ISIS in Syria. Before Trump took over in 2017, we were told it would be years and years to control ISIS. We would push ISIS fighters out of an area. Then have to fight the same fighters again and again. After Trump, we just started killing them. Now instead we defeated ISIS in 2018 and for about a year are trying to decide what to do with the ISIS fighters we didn’t kill.
Trump is trying to end the 40 year war in Afghanistan, or at least our military’s participation after 18 years. And he used economics, not military force to advance our goals against North Korea and Iran.
I am trusting President Donald Trump over any of the Establishment Republicans or Democrats.
The US hasn’t committed to winning a war since December 8th, 1941. Korea, Vietnam, Somalia, Iraq, the list goes on.
They’re great at keeping alive regional conflicts, but seemingly lack the will for a knockout punch. I will also note that even in 1945 they lacked the will to win, hence the next 50 years of Soviet dominance of Eastern Europe.
There were two countries that invaded Poland in 1939. Only one was defeated, the other was allowed to keep its ill gotten gains. George Paton was correct.
The last time the Americans officially declared war was on December 8, 1941. Korea was a “police action” managed by the U. N. Somalia was a U. N. peace-keeping operation. After the American withdrawal from Viet Nam in 1974, the truce was supervised by–wait for it!–the U. N. Both Bush War I and Bush War II had U. N. approval. And don’t forget the Balkans from 20 years ago in which Americans were also involved–guess which international body managed that?
I think there’s some sort of pattern to this…. Nah–it’s pure coincidence.
The objective of the wars was to pick off, one by one, any threats to the House of Saud, to ensure that the oil fueling China’s development and the outsourcing of America’s industrial base remained dirt-cheap—and to kill or break the bodies and minds of otherwise unemployable young white men whose jobs had been outsourced and might one day revolt.
Winning a war against Islam should have been laughably easy. Levelling every major city in the Islamic world with nuclear-tipped ICBM’s would have been the work of a single night, removing the Chinese threat to western dominance with it.
It would also have ruined most of our master class, whose wealth, by 2001, almost wholly depended on never paying a white man an honest day’s wage for an honest day’s work.
WWI and WWII taught the monopolistic capitalists that WAR is profitable. WAR can make corporations RICH! WAR can create civilian prosperity. Therefore, WARS with no ending points (Afghanistan for ex.) are cash cows. Peacetime is bad for the economy … so peacetime should punctuated by WAR.
Human loss used to modulate the corporate desire for WAR. But in our new video-game era of WARS with only a few boots on the ground … WARS can indeed go on forever (see: Middle East). Trump is one of the FEW voices in Wash. D.C. who speak against our new “clean” WARFARE.
And when I hear the Global Warmists claim that Global Warming should be FOUGHT … like WWII … I know exactly what they mean. They mean to focus the ENTIRE government resources ($$$$$) on their own personal “WAR”.
Listen to me!!?? I am sounding like the dirty anti-war hippies I used to mock in the early 70’s. I suppose 64years of experience and perspective … changes a man. The justification for our WARS … starting with VietNam (if not Korea) … have been getting more and more convoluted. And as A Can. says … We could START and END any war on the planet with a single sortie of B-52’s and ICBM’s … which might just END all wars for 1,000 years. Now, however, WAR is simply a “division” of most multinational corporations.
When I read statements about MY President from “mad dog” Gen. Mattis … I get a little Ill. This man is now trading his years of operating our WAR machine … for a $7-figure income from WAR Lobbyists.
Trump is doing a lot of what the Libertarians might have done. He is third party. I tend to support policy over personality and while I would not be as much of a smart ass as Trump………..I do laugh at the reaction he gets.
And isn’t it curious WHY the EXTREME leftists (like John Stewart) tend to support Libertarians? I suspect it is simply because Libertarians believe in legalizing marijuana (and all drugs), and are anti-WAR and anti-foreign entanglement.
Yet Stewart (and the left) HATE Trump … despite his Libertarian policies. Oh well, they’ve never been “consistent” thinkers.
And it’s interesting to note that my extreme leftist friends here in the SF Bay Area … rationalize their friendship with me by claiming I am a “Libertarian” … not a conservative Republican. So I can freely express all my “Libertarian” values and beliefs … and I will be “accepted”. But I still cannot express other parts of my “Libertarianism” such as tax cuts and lower taxes … even for “the rich”. They will change the conversation, and tell me to shut up.
There is this, though. Until the early part of the 20th century, “drugs” were not illegal, in terms of simple sales, use or possession. 19th Century Coca-cola contained cola leaf extract, the cocaine and all. Hemp oil, smoking the leaves, etc. have been around for thousands of years. The same with alcohol. “Progressives” have been doing various experiments to control free people. More “laws” making more normal interactions “felonies” make it easier to control people through guilt (see: Atlas Shrugged, “Licensed to Lie” and “Three Felonies a Day”).
An issue with war is that you can and will find yourself in one, at times, whether you want it or not. That said, I do like Trump’s take on “The Art of War”, and uses it Trump style.
Yoou mean Ron Paul got the Maxime Bernier treatment.
100% correct.
The media trying to influence elections, say it isn’t so.
I think the only way Max could get some press in this ridiculous country is to pull a Jessica Yaniv. He could ride around on his scooter, in drag, swinging his purse at reporters, and still not make the news. Nice democracy you got there, hate to see you morons piss it all away.
“$hit happens when you give the Press $600 million in an election year…”
MSN/CBC had a story up about Bernier where he repeated that he is against ‘mass imigration’
Man, I am tired.
