5. I’m with you Kate. Make them play by their own rules. The new rule says that, right up front, you’re supposed to state who you are, your gender, your affiliations and your pronouns. 10. If we are having to accept the multitude of genders being created they must be stated as part of their identity.
    A man, a woman, a transgender person, whatever, you name it, is who they identify as being, including bi-sexual.

11. YES, if you are going to refer to the gender of the perp it must be honest. The most honest would be a “man who thinks he’s a woman”. We are long past being able to say this. Next most honest would be a trans-gender-woman. It would be acceptable to simply say a former employee of Amazon, as gender is not really that relevant. But woman? NO, he is not a woman and cannot be a woman even if he goes all the way with the mutilation.

    OTOH, as Kate says, trans-gender-woman would let the public know that the perp is mentally ill, suffering from gender dysphoria.

    In these enlightened times there should be no stigma attached to the term mental illness being applied to this poor sick man.

14. Honestly, I tried to listen, but I just can’t. Gormley just makes me want to gouge out my ears. Plus, he usually comes across as a self-important–and usually condescending–twit. But I don’t mean “twit”. I forget the specific issue, but when I still lived in Saskatoon, he wrote or spoke on something that was beyond his ability to comprehend in a way that convincingly demonstrated same, and since then, I haven’t found anything he says to be worth my time, though I have checked in a few times since. He’s just too in love with the sound of his own annoying voice to appreciate anything anyone else might say.

    In this particular case, he lost me as soon as he used the “no true trans” fallacy in respect to Yaniv. After that, nothing else out of his cake-hole mattered. While I might agree that Yaniv isn’t a real trans, Gormley doesn’t get to define that. The whack jobs in and out of the media have been calling this tune for years, so it’s only fair they wear Yaniv like the ill-gotten cone of shame that it is: if the hacker is trans, so is the unindicted sex offender.

    Kate, you have my respect for even attempting to engage with him. I couldn’t do that for even as long as I tried to listen.

    2. I’d cut Gormley a little slack, given what the regulators are able to do to radio hosts who commit wrongspeak.

       That said, “brave” journos are seizing on the Jessica/John Yaniv case because they think it gives them cover under the “not a real trans” misdirection. Real journalists would defend the objective facts on their face without hiding behind Yaniv.

       1. Slack may be deserved (or not), but I still can’t listen to him for more than a few seconds.

          I’m also not convinced he should be grouped with journalists. Or that “real journalists” exist.

    These alphabet life forms need psychiatric help. They do not – as demanded by liberals and the left – belong on pedestals for the rest of us to be ordered to kiss their asses.

18. You made an excellent point Kate in that just because a man now identifies as a woman, does mean he is a nice woman. We seem to be giving trans people a free pass on their behavior. We can’t even question bad behavior, let alone stop it.
