Well, my plans of blogging a little in the evenings went down the tubes when the hotel wifi refused a connection to my laptop. My apologies, but there’s not much I can do about it We’ll see how the coming week unfolds, but I’ll be at a different fairground in the Chicago area.enc
Again, thanks for your patience. I see yesterday’s RT post has upwards of 150 comments. Maybe Trudeau’s been turfed, maybe you’re just complaining or bored. But the meal will be here soon at this restaurant so my time online is again, brief.
We did win like snot this weekend, so there’s that.
Tips thread open.

Winning is good.

Yes, I saw that. Nice flag, and great choice for Parade Marshall. Lol! Jesse Watters had an interesting smile on his face throughout the interview.
Oh, I almost forgot. Kate have a great time at whatever you are doing.
Kate, good for winning. Now, don’t forget to bring back some rain.
Good Luck Ken and People in Saskatchewan…
https://youtu.be/S433z3UREqc
Thanks Nancy. I saw a number of fields today that were seeded a month ago and almost nothing coming up.
“seeded a month ago and almost nothing coming up”
That’s how it is at our place Ken but we won’t give up yet. Remember 2002. The rain didn’t come until the 3rd week in June and then it wouldn’t quit. We ended the season with close to 20 inches of rain, a fair crop and the cowboy’s pastures recharged with plenty of reserve moisture.
nold, yes, I remember that year, and the year before and after, as well as the mental anguish. If I remember correctly, it was 2001 or 2003 when I hired a neighbour to swath a couple of quarters of wheat. His swather was 30′ and he could throw the swath out either end. He made 60′ swaths and when it got dark I had to quit combining as I couldn’t see where to drive.
“60′ swaths and when it got dark I had to quit combining as I couldn’t see where to drive”
Wow. That was a piss poor crop Ken. I’m thinking that was 2001 because I think the crop was generally fairly decent across Sask in 2003.
Down here we thought spring would never arrive, and it’s been raining nearly non stop since. Only two rounds of golf so far. The fields have hundreds of acres of standing water around us while north and south on the I29 entire sections are under water.
Congrats and further terrific luck with the hounds, Kate. One of my golf friends raises two bizarre and rather hideous breeds of dogs. I’d not heard of either breed. She’s talked about the show related expenses, ensuring appropriate judges will be on site, paying expenses for said judges, finding handlers. Hers cancelled last minute this week which has been occurring frequently. She’s at a show somewhere. And good luck to her as well.

I believe his arguments apply equally why to: stabbings, beatings, strong armed, armed robbery, and the rise of street gangs across Canada in the past 30 years. If you could get your City Councillor, M.L.A./M.P.P. and Members of Parliament, to watch this with you and discuss it. Could you get a dialogue going? Okay, maybe not if their party leader has forbidden them to think for themselves.)

http://www.msn.com/en-ca/money/topstories/latest-data-shows-worker-shortage-is-helping-canadians-get-richer-don-pittis/ar-AACERVZ?ocid=ientp
The theory that labour demand will increase wages when there are worker shortages is sound just don’t tell neo-Marxists like Kathleen Wynne. The participation rate is 65%. Is that high or low? Workers getting higher wages is, of course, inflationary, but we aren’t seeing the lending rate change. Why is that? Is it because of enormous government debt?
To me there are a lot of things in today’s economic world that don’t make sense.
The labor participation rate (LPR) is the number of people employed and unemployed but looking for work (the numerator) divided by the total working-age population (the denominator). It was much lower in the early 1970s (probably due to less women working). We should expect the rate to slowly increase as more boomers enter their retirement years and are no longer included in the denominator. Because the LPR also includes unemployed it helps to look at that graph as well.
Interesting that after the last 3 major recessions (1982, 1990 and 2008) it took almost 10 years to get all those laid-off people back to work.
https://tradingeconomics.com/canada/unemployment-rate
The LPR has never gone above 68% since 1976 (the edge of the graph) and back then was under 62%.
I made a mistake Buddy. If 50,000 boomers leave the work force, both the numerator and denominator drop by the same amount. Because the numerator (people working or looking for work) is smaller, the participation rate actually drops. So we should expect a falling LPR as more boomers retire. This probably explains the rapid rise in the 1970s. These were the boomers first entering the labor market.
Understood for sure. I believe participation rate is as important as full time vs part time stats and then of course the sectors. Obviously western government business plans are immigration to offset falling birthrates. An antithetical response considering dire world “pollution” and Artificial Intelligence’s bloom.
Bottom line is that government interference is really screwing the free market system.
I really don’t understand this. How many gardeners do the Koch brothers need? These people are in many cases incapable AND unwilling. They’re not going to code. They’re not going to farm. They don’t have the language or education to manage. They self segregate into nearly identical sh!thole conditions they purport to escape. They are economic migrants looking to parasite off first world taxpayers. Look at the ‘dreamers’. Free college and few graduate. None of the libertarian/globalist perspectives make sense. There’s apparently much more under the surface of which I am unaware.
http://www.msn.com/en-ca/news/world/hong-kong-leader-signals-extradition-bill-will-go-forward/ar-AACEuV3?ocid=ientp
So Hong Kong is basically giving in to the demand of Mainland China to be able to kidnap people who do or say something “illegal”.
Despite a million person protest.
#TheChicomsAreWinning
It’s a done deal and protests – even million-person ones – are pointless.
What part of the One China policy do the people of Hong Kong not understand?
And here’s an interesting aside: our own retired Chief Justice Beverley McLachlin is a non-permanent judge on the Hong Kong Court of Final Appeal, essentially making her subordinate to legal decisions of the People’s Republic of China.
That’s priceless.

We can create a big surprise. Tweeting as Donald Trump, but tracing his career on that of Emmanuel Macron, the Conservative defector and leader of the People’s Party of Canada believes that the country will not hesitate to vote for its platform libertarian in the next federal election. He talks to Catherine Perrin about her admiration for Margaret Thatcher, about the right of Canadians to choose the type of immigration they want for the country, their pride in educating their children in English, and the true role of CO2 in change. climate.
The 56-year-old politician begins by apologizing for populism: “The population is fed up with politicians who say one thing one day and its opposite the next, and try to please everyone. […] The populist politician is the politician who does the opposite. ”
The man who loved the Constitution
Reviewing the broad outlines of his program, he reiterated his intention to abolish transfers in health and social services, to reduce equalization, to lower the immigration thresholds, to eliminate the management system of the offer and cut subsidies to businesses, including oil companies. “It’s easier to be a libertarian at the federal level, because the Constitution is well done,” he admits. I respect the Constitution. ”
Equalization a poverty trap. It does not encourage Quebec to have economic policies that will create wealth and it does not encourage Quebec to develop its natural resources.
Maxime Benier
For selective immigration
He criticizes Justin Trudeau for renouncing Canada’s sovereignty over immigration. “There are 250 million migrants around the world, will we accept all these people? No, “he says, defending himself well for identity politics. “People who are anti-immigration are not welcome in our party. People who advocate mass immigration are not welcome in our party. An immigration of 250,000 new Canadians a year, as under Mr. Harper, is being advocated; we want more immigrants of an economic nature, we want fewer refugees, we want fewer family reunifications. ”
We just need [votes] 40% of the population. Politicians do not understand that. I can have 60% of people against me and have a majority government.
Maxime Bernier
Andrew Scheer the weak
He defends himself well for having caused the rout of his old party by leaving him. “It’s not my fault that Mr. Scheer is a weak leader. Mr. Scheer was not able to win when I was with him. […] Sheer can not win with Maxime Bernier, and Scheer can not win without Maxime Bernier. ”
He is happy to have sent his three daughters to English school from kindergarten. “We have been able to take advantage of the [acquired rights] clause of Bill 101,” he explains. My ex-wife’s father went to the English school in Montreal. I did not want my daughters to speak English with an accent. I wanted them to be perfectly bilingual. […] I am a very proud father. ”
As tweeting
Far from having any scruples about the tendentious style of his tweets, which can lend credence to the conspiracy theories on the creation of a world government, or to climate-skepticism, he rather welcomes it: “I think I have the marketing gift, since we’re talking about my tweets, and that’s what I want.
“Climate change exists,” he confirms first. He refuses, however, to qualify his remarks that CO2 is not polluting. “I will not rename CO2 as a pollutant, as Mr. Trudeau does, to get votes. I am very honest, and moreover I say it: the Treaty of Paris, I would not have signed it because Mr. Trudeau is currently hypocritical with the Canadian people. ”
He continues: “The UN says it, experts say it: it takes a tax of at least $ 200 a tonne to [achieve] the objectives [of the Paris agreement]. Mr. Trudeau imposes a tax of $ 20 a tonne that will not do anything, but he tries to convince the Canadian population that we will save the planet. It’s completely wrong. I am very honest: I will not sign this treaty, and I will let the provinces have their own policies in the fight against climate change. “

Useless Lying Prick Harper promised to get rid of the Liberal Gun Control and just straight lied. He was even stupid enough and so adoring of the STASI RCMP that he handed it over to them. What happens when you vote CON, even with a BIG Majority like Harpers, they deliver for the Liberals. They tinker a wee bit but always, always deliver Liberal Programs. The thing these fascists don’t realize is that someone might just follow them home after work.
buddy of mine did a couple months as a ‘guest’ of the province aka mapleherst in Etobicoke? whatever.
the story he told me about the abusive guards playing head games went thus:
-twas in the time of mike harris, his minister of transport, who was that?
anyway, the tranna star did a story about how mikey would SELL, for a price, the intimate details behind license plates.
(this predated the privacy act).
sooooo one day the opseu folks got in his face so he dropped a note in the suggestion box how he had PREARRANGED if ANYTHING unpleasant was to befall him, his ‘people on the outside’ had already scanned the umpteen plates in the parking lot and make sure all the nasty dudes and *their* people would get updates regarding the domiciles etc of said opseu folks.
oh my.
came the time, he merely calmly stated that if ANYTHING rotten were to befall him, the arrangements had already been worked out, and in fact, the guards should perhaps do a 180 and MAKE GODDAMN SURE NOTHING BAD HAPPENED because, if perchance, it truly was an unintentional mishap, his people on the outside would never believe it and proceed with the retaliation courtesy any number of
the newly recruited grudge holders in possession of their addresses etc.
they relented.
things got back to the way they were SUPPOSED to be, ie, guards refraining from their famous lilt towards vigilantism.
“vigilantism? you sobs want vigilantism? just try me you bastards.
I am NOT doing this for ‘special privileges’ like beer and pizza,
I’m doing it to PROTECT MYSELF FROM YOU THUGS the only way I know how at this point”.
“ps DONT TAKE MY WORD FOR IT CHECK THE NEWSPAPER ARTICLE”.
oh ya, it worked alright.
like I say, this predated the privacy act. we joked it was probably the *reason* for the privacy act.

Kate winning? But the lead story on the CBC News Morning was that the Toronto Raptors are favoured to win tonight. and win the NBA championship! At least the CBC news-thingies are all abuzz with Raptor fever. Me, not so much. However, one question that needs answered is that IF the Raptors win — and that is a big if — whether or not the big crowd in downtown Toronto will cause a celebratory riot, or simply jump up and down, peaceably, like ninnies.
With baited breath one can read this educative missive from the CBC News web page:
https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/toronto/toronto-raptors-win-blue-jays-celebration-1.5166269
discussing the 500,000 crowd celebrating back in 1992, then the Blue Jays last won. I can’t remember if that was peaceful, or not. But our pc media cartel keep emphasizing that the Raptors’ run is so multicultural. Given that, we can safely assume peace will prevail.

Oh oh, more Liberal/SNC-Lavalin possible scandal this time over the Nuclear waste from Chalk River. Seems the waste may contaminate Ottawa. SNC-Lavalin owns Candu. This should be good. And as the Nuclear Industry can not get insurance, the TAXPAYER is on the hook as usual. That’s how it works in Canada. Nuclear energy is the only industry were the Taxpayer has to pay for their waste disposal and provide insurance coverage for all Nuclear accidents whatever the cost.

Did they finally get the emergency back-up power supply and cooling system hooked up at Chalk River?
I recall PM Harper gave the OK to restart the reactor without the systems in place cuz the likelihood of an accident was soooooooooooo low. Harper also fired the head of the Canadian Nuclear Safety regulator for holding up the reactor restart without the safety systems in place.
As for the waste, dilution is he solution. Just add water until the concentration of radioactivity is within regulatory limits. Legal limits do change as circumstances dictate as in Fukushima where 3 USA design General Electric reactors cores melted down.
https://www.times.org/nuclear-power-back/2018/3/8/the-long-tragic-trail-of-defective-general-electric-nuclear-reactors-from-hanford-to-fukushima
Fukushima was an accident waiting to happen. JAP industry executives sat on the board of the IAEA at the time of the accident. Readers can sleep soundly knowing that the Canadian Nuclear safety regulator “” has based many of its REGDOCs on IAEA Safety Standards and will continue to do so as they are revised.”””
