  1. Venezuelans have put up the most anemic rebellion I’ve ever seen. Guaidó is useless and has done literally nothing since declaring himself leader.

    1. MM, and you’v been down there to witness this I suppose. When are asshole like you going understand you can’t judge a situation from far away, like you are trying here.

      1. What has Guaidó done to erode the regime? Has he established a guerilla movement? Surely a porous border with Columbia would allow him and his cronies to traffic some weapons and supplies. Has he started to eliminating soft Government targets? Why aren’t the bureaucracies and symbols of the Venezuelan government being ransacked? Why aren’t known supporters of the regime being dragged from their beds at night to disappear into the jungle?

Why are the airports still open for business? Why hasn’t Guaidó established blockades on the routes out of Caracas? Why is there no ground game to liberate friendlier territories in Venezuela. One town, one village at a time?

The book has already been published on how to destabilize a government and the tactics are tried and true. Standing around in the streets ‘nonviolently’ day after day for a government that is determined to cling to power and starve you and run over you and kill you at all cost is a mugs game.

        1. Eastern Europe managed to get rid of communism without a civil war. Some tried civil war, like Poland in the late 40s, and that only entrenched commies.

          1. WRONG!!! The Soviets executed a huge number of the Polish Army in what is now known as the Katyn Massacre. Then, when the Polish Jews decided to fight the Germans during the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising, the Soviets waited outside of Warsaw to ensure the Germans killed off all the people who would and could put up a fight against them (the Soviets)…only after the Uprising was put down did the Soviets attack Warsaw. So, there would have been a very effective force to fight the Russians had they not been massacred by both the Russians and the Germans. Furthermore, after the war, Britain to its great shame turned over the Free Poles who had been fighting alongside Britain during the war this included Polish pilots who fought over the skies of Britain during the Battle of Britain. Polish soldiers, airmen and naval personnel who fought alongside the Western Allies (GB, USA, Canada) numbered over 200K by the end of the war–that would have probably cost the Soviets a couple of divisions–and if the Americans decided to help out the Poles…who knows…the Soviet Union might have disappeared in a heap of glowing ash in 1946 instead of 45 years later.

          2. OMG, where did you learn history kiddo?

“WRONG!!! The Soviets executed a huge number of the Polish Army in what is now known as the Katyn Massacre.”

In the summer of 1940. Not after communism was established after WWII.

“ Then, when the Polish Jews decided to fight the Germans during the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising, “

Started in January of 1943, a completely insignificant act of desperation with no strategic implications.

“the Soviets waited outside of Warsaw to ensure the Germans killed off all the people who would and could put up a fight against them (the Soviets)…only after the Uprising was put down did the Soviets attack Warsaw. “

You’re confusing two different Warsaw uprisings! You pimple faced know it all.

            1. Early 1943 was the desperate fight in the ghetto by a handful of Jewish resistance fighters helped on occasion by the Polish Home Army. Germans lost less than 20 people in the whole fight. You know where the Eastern Front was at that time the Ghetto uprising started? Try Stalingrad.

            2. Warsaw Uprising happened in the summer of 1944, long after the episode in Ghetto was over. Where the Polish Home Army (not Jewish) initially managed to kick out Germans from most of the city. Soviets were at the outskirts of Warsaw at that time and they stalled their offensive instead of aiding the Polish Home Army. Yes, they wanted the home army to burn out and the following German massacres accounted for hundreds of thousands of mostly civilian deaths. The fighting took two months and caused Germans in excess of ten thousand deaths. This was not the Ghetto Uprising you uneducated imbecile. It was a different event separated by more than a year of time it just happened in the same city.

“So, there would have been a very effective force to fight the Russians had they not been massacred by both the Russians and the Germans.”

There was a very effective force left after the war. The remnants of the Polish Home Army (AK- Armia Krajowa) fought a bitter guerrilla campaign against communists, the Red Army and NKVD until 1947. Some units survived much longer. At the height of anti-communist resistance after the WWII the country side belonged to the resistance and the communist power was restricted to big cities.

Ignoring the rest because it is neither here nor there.

          3. “Polish soldiers, airmen and naval personnel who fought alongside the Western Allies (GB, USA, Canada) numbered over 200K by the end of the war”

Compared to about a two million of Red Army occupation force in Poland in the second half of 1940s…

          4. I concur with rev 13 18, there are some commonalities with all revolutions, including stuff like the tipping point.
but they are all basically different, one CANNOT judge from afar with these things. aka ‘armchair monday morning q back’

this one looks like it could pop soon.

    2. Hey, they voted for this shit and now they have tried to vote it away and guess what, it ain’t working.

  2. Funny how much of a mess Venezuela is in given that they are in the top 3 or 4 countries in the world in oil reserves.
    As is ALBERTA!
Would Alberta be in similar straits if Notley was given a second term as the Premier, instead of Kenney? No? What would have been the long term impact? By the way what did happen to the pigeons in Caracas?

    1. Trudeau and the liberal socialists are destroying the energy sector in Canada, the country is well on it’s way to being another Venezuela.

        1. Exactly! And it’s Silicon Valley … not … Silicone Valley (THAT Valley is in the high-priced Ravines of Orange County)

      1. You’re right NME. The red tape for vapour barrier is Tuck Tape – not duct tape which is typically silver in colour.

    1. Use Scotch spray on Contact Adhesive on the back of the paper, then tape it down.

It “supposedly” works great on papers and windshields too. But I never tried that.

  3. Heh …… socialist paradise looks as expected more and more every day.

Though never fear, the media cartel, the Hollywood crowd and the “academics” will save the day.
    Its almost guaranteed.

  4. You see, when socialist society is complete, with only perfect party comrades left, then the dictatorship of the proletariat may end.
Except that it doesn’t. but in theory, government just withers away you see. That’s what the intelligentsia overlords assure us.
Right after the despair, demonstrations, water cannons, shootings, disappearances, military attacks, gulags and killing fields.
Yep, right after that. The leaders are happy to step aside. Still more social perfecting (of riot control) required hmmm?
Obviously many more moderate radicals demanding liberty, security, prosperity and other dangerous ideas to the ruling class.
If the great deplorably unwashed targets insist on trying to determine their own fates, then their class determines their demise.
It’s really quite simple if you don’t think about it and take careful aim. The peasants are quite revolting after all.
The slippery slope of progressivism transactions of decline leading to corrupt totalitarianism – coming to a country near you.

    1. “The slippery slope of progressivism transactions of decline leading to corrupt totalitarianism – coming to a country near you.” This is in store for all western countries that are allowing progressive nihilists to take over their country.

  5. They wanted socialism, they REPEATEDLY voted for socialism; they deserve whatever Maduro wants to do to them. They deserve no help, no sympathy, no wasted treasure or blood to save them so they can stay socialist.

If your country is going socialist and you see it coming, pack a bugout bag, pick a bugout location, and prepare.

    1. My father escaped from Russia after the Bolshevik Revolution…..one of his favorite sayings was “when the government wants you to register your guns, that’s the time to oil them up, wrap them in plastic and bury them in the back yard”. When he would say this to some brain dead fool, they would often say “well that can’t happen here and now”….my Dad would answer “Do you think we thought it would happen there and then?”

      1. The same with mine and my wife’s family. My father-in-law was sixteen when the Militz (local police) and the Cheka came around to collect any guns in the villages.

Why do you think the Liberals and NDP want to take the guns in Canada?

    2. Having survived communism myself… I agree. We never asked for it, they did. As you say they asked for it repeatedly. It was not imposed on them by an outside power with guns. They asked for it. They cheered when private property was confiscated by the state. Again and again. And now they run out of other people’s money. Let the hunger games continue.

      1. You and Kevin make a great points. With every election the people of Canada and the US are asking for more and more of Maduro type policies. The trouble that is that Kevin, you, and I and our families will suffer just as those asking for this will even though we are opposed to the escalating socialist and progressive nihilist takeover of our countries.

        1. That is true. In every society you have at least 10% of people who did not deserve it. But what is the solution?

Eastern Europe was an exception because communism was imposed predominately by Kremlin, was always foreign and rejected by the masses. First chance people got to make a democratic decision and … pufff the nightmare was over. That was, in a way, easy.

The rest of the world? Not so much. Especially anywhere south of Rio Grande (Chile being a miraculous exception) they love themselves some redistribution from their version of kulaks. There is no helping Venezuelans because even today there are huge segments of society, possibly still a majority, that embrace the socialist disease. They just want to tweak it a bit, so the shelves are no longer empty and maybe some resemblance of rule of law is established. Witness Nicaragua, the Contras patriots fought a bitter campaign against the genocidal Sandinista regime. They lost and when the country finally managed to get rid of the Sandinista junta it was only to vote them back in democratically (more or less) with the next election cycle.

Where is Western World heading? Towards annihilation I am afraid. We are importing the same people that crippled the freedom and capitalism back in their homelands. And they have no loyalty to the new host country.

Kevin talks about running… Where to?

  6. The U.S and conservative allies keep talking about how this is a popular uprising to restore democracy.
    Huh?
Democracy got them into this mess in the first place.
This U.S led coup is half-hearted in the same way it was half-hearted in 2002. They need an illiberal, undemocratic, homegrown Pinochet in order to fix what’s broken.
    This will probably fail.

    1. No, they need a liberal Pinochet to fix the country. Illiberalism is what got them here and will bring them Haiti.

  7. I wonder if the NDP, unions, and teachers will be sending another delegation to support Maduro?

    1. I know Noam Chomsky has.

I wonder if they courr academics and “intellectuals” by telling them they will get to personally murder someone?

    2. “The surest way to work up a crusade in favor of some good cause is to promise people they will have a chance of maltreating someone. To be able to destroy with good conscience, to be able to behave badly and call your bad behavior ‘righteous indignation’ — this is the height of psychological luxury, the most delicious of moral treats.” ~ Aldous Huxley

    1. Oh, Ceauşescu wasn’t killed for starving his people. Nobody gave a damn about them.

He was killed for paying off Romania’s debts and threatening to go into business making loans to “developing” nations. His last trip abroad (to Iran) was to offer the ayatullahs hard-currency loans.

The banks who were already making fortunes speculating in Third World debt didn’t care for the extra competition.

  8. dunno…..the generation that needs to fix this….is the generation that was raised on it

They were all brought up to be dependent on the government….over throwing the government would be like killing your parents

  9. Look. Maduro owes his soul, and Venezuela’s oil, to the Chinese. Meanwhile, the oil industry has collapsed in Venezuela.

Beijing has figured out that they won’t be able to help themselves to the oil while Maduro is in power. He’s just that incompetent.

Maduro will go in short order, to be replaced by Juan Guaido, the more competent Chinese puppet, who will be given the job of holding back his people while Chinese vultures steal everything of value.

Enjoy the show. Don’t think Venezuela is actually coming back from the trauma of being a communist lab rat any time soon. It took twenty years for Russia to even begin to come back from communism and western-backed gangster capitalism.

    1. Russia never came back from anywhere. Siberian Mongols never change. They are not worthy of “western-backed gangster capitalism” because they will f*** it up just like they f***ed up everything else they touched. Russia is a king Midas of fecal matter.

    2. Coincidently your beloved Pootinista Junta is supporting Maduro just like they were supporting Chavez before. It is a decades long love affair. But hey, just like in russia, when facts get in a way of a good narrative too bad for the facts, right cyka?

  10. When I see something like this, I ask “who was driving that vehicle and why?”
